Manny isnt playin today due to disiplinary reasons
this guy evidently hired to work for AD
Just saw that, they said that Manny did not even make the trip to Purdue.
Hopefully one of the younger guys can really step it up, I'm thinking Morris has a breakout game.
I just heard this on College Game Day. I really don't know what to think at this point.
what a bummer. I hope whatever happened doesnt warrant a suspension. I'm bringing my dad and brother to the MSU game Tuesday and want to see him play.
I would be pretty shocked it he did not play the game on Tuesday; it would have to have been pretty egregious for that to happen.
Ok, so Deshawn has to score 40 or 50 today.
No Novak needs to hit at least 10 threes and Douglas needs to get at least 20, along with Sims double-double (maybe 25-12).
Without him, we wouldn't have been beaten OSU or UCONN, but nonsense like this should suggest that he could use another year with Coach JB before heading off to the NBA.
I bet he thinks he's ready. I was merely pointing out that incidents like this suggest otherwise.
(Of course, if one is engaging in such incidents, I don't really expect that person to engage in this type of deliberation - athlete or otherwise.)
This definately is a bummer. Hopefully this is just punishment for being late for a meeting or practice rather than something larger. We stand to lose a lot without Manny as he is the only player on our team that can consistently create his own shot. Definately will need someone else to step up today besides Sims. Hopefully we have a hot day behind the arc.
+1 for obscure office space reference
I gotta good feeling
Manny shouldn't still be getting suspended by his own coach in his junior year. If you're going to get suspended, at least let it be due to jacking an MSU player in the face.

dylan at umhoops says it's "unsportsmanlike conduct in friday's practice." probably nothing too serious.
Well, certainly it's nothing he could get arrested for, but being suspended by your own coach during the B10 season still requires a serious mistake of judgment.
But in all actuality...go Beilein...I like when the coach is in charge...
was lost anyway, at least in terms of tourney bid, this game will be interesting to watch in terms of a glimpse at the future of this team when Manny isn't around (particularly if Ziegler opts elsewhere and the "slashing wing" position sort of disappears).
Because he said it was lost? You know, without winning any of these games (without a wish or a prayer if Manny doesn't play), the season is pretty much lost. Because it's a glimpse at a Manny-less future? Uh, it is...and it's not even taking Sims out of the equation yet. Because Ziegler may opt elsewhere? Everyone from Brian on down is thinking that at the moment. And then yes, we will have NOBODY who can create off the dribble. We'll be looking at a lot of jacked up jump shots as the buzzer sounds...
an interesting game. Everyone will need to step up obviously, but it seems like Manny has been forcing way to much lately instead of letting the game come to him. We will really miss him on the boards, but it should be fun to watch what this team can do without Manny. Plus Maybe he will take this like hs benching a few games back and come out on fire against msu.
I guess it will be interesting to see if any of the guys on the team has a shiner or something. not to jump to conclusions, of course. but man what else could he have done in practice?
Anyway, the line is all the way up to -13.5 for Purdue. Cant imagine it not growing at least another point in the next 4 hours
according to someone on Scout. He threw an elbow at someone's face during practice, allegedly. I guess it was bad enough to warrant a sit down.
showed up at practice and wanted to scrimmage with the team. Manny introduced Jay to his ulnar nerve.
Well, I'm sure they'd found some way to vilify Manny for the elbow last year anyway. Now they'll just call him a thug even to his own players... great.
You did hear Bilas bring up that elbow incident immediately after Andy Rautins from Syracuse got called for a similar "intentional" foul call earlier this year, right? It was literally the first thing Jay said.
I guess we get a preview of what things may look like next year.
JB couldn't send a stronger message if he took out a super bowl ad. Possibly not playing against msu?! Fack!
Sounds like there was an incident, then maybe Manny didn't react well to the aftermath. There seems to be some kind of ongoing tension between him and Beilein - the benching last year, again this year at certain points - now this statement from Beilein implies that is goes further than one specific practice altercation.
You never know, maybe for this one game you see a team functioning better as a whole. I like Manny and wish it were otherwise but it is what it is.
Could we possibly get some p.t for Mclimans or Morgan and finally move Novak to the 3 now? Or are they red shirting this year and completely not ready for college bball yet? Either way, we need to have a perfectly executed team game today on both sides of the floor..
I am frustrated. Manny seems like such a good guy, hopefully this is a relatively minor thing. But not even travelling with the team sounds a bit worse. I trust JB to know what he's doing. I just hope this turns around on a dime.
I thought 2009 was bad enough, but 2010 is starting to resemble the seventh level of Hell.
To me things couldn't get much worse. This is definitely the 8th and possibly the 9th level. That's assuming this was a reference to Dante?
Which bay of the 8th then? Definitely not the 9th. That's a frozen pond with Satan locked in the center.
Or East Lansing...?
(I thought maybe Saban or Kiffin too, but it's too warm where they're at...)
we beat OSU and UCONN. Oh, and DG was able to early enroll. That's gotta count for something, right?
The Geauxfers are taking it to State.
Pissed me off too
Purdue hasn't been tearing things up recently. If Mich continues to play the defense they've been playing they have a shot in this game anyway.
with Hummel/Kramer -vs- Novak/Douglass on tap.
this will work like sitting Manny for the OT game at Iowa last year
The coach has to be in charge. I get that and I totally support Coach B. Obviously in his judgment whatever happened warranted Manny's suspension. I just worry that high school players, especially those in Detroit, might be turned off by this ongoing tension between Manny and Coach B. It could cost us in recruiting, but I guess I'm willing to sacrifice the type of players that wouldn't want to come to UM because of this for maintaining control of the team. Or maybe that's reading too much into things.
I thought the same thing when I heard about it. "Gee, this should do wonders with prima donna players with talent (particularly also from Detroit) who see the star player continually getting benched and suspended". Not only not on the same page, but it's going to make it look more like players like Manny don't fit in his system. And yes, you have to maintain control of the team...but if you can't have a rapport with your best players (like big time programs who recruit talented kids all over the place do), you're not going to get very good players, and you're not going to be a very good team.
It will be interesting to see if Grady gets some PT.
A little OT, Belien said the other day that Michigan could not play a game in the 80's against UCONN and win, but would be able to do so in a couple of years. At this point I am having trouble visualizing an up tempo team, but glad to hear it is on the way.
