Manny Harris leads Cavs in scoring against the Pistons

Submitted by Lloyd's Boy on

Manny Harris lead the Cavs in points tonight against the Pistons. It's nice to see a former Wolverine catch a break in his homecoming.

Manny's line: 23 mins, 6-9 shooting, 3-5 from three, 3 reb, 1 block, and 18 pts.

Hopefully he is able to prove his worth over the last part of the season and solidify a roster spot! Go Blue!

but Cleveland's will to win did, they are tanking the season playing back-ups. Smart move so they have a better chance at a better pick, but i like what the pistons are doing, they are actually trying and giving a shit, learning how to win as a team is going to help them in the future.

I wish we were that smart. Don't get me wrong "You play to win the game" but when there is clear incentive not to... you have to be smart. In the NBA more than any other sport it is about Jimmys and Joes more than Xs and Os.

Agree with you there, but we should be taking tanking to a whole new level. I mean we all knew wew weren't going to be a title contender this year no matter what so why not tank from game one? Hell why not tank for two seasons in a row? Seems like a good plan to me honestly. You give up two years in order to contend for 5-10 seasons? This is why the NBA is so screwed up. Incentives to lose are way too high. I get the lottery and whatnot, but it is rare that the Chicago thing happens.

This attitude/strategy of tanking in the NBA is quickly becoming a gigantic problem. Only a few years ago, this strategy was reserved for the bottom 2 or 3 teams. Lately, however, it feels like everyone who is missing out on the play-offs is contemplating tanking the rest of the season. It makes sense, and in some instances works (OKC), but is just terrible for the league.

To lose in the first round of the playoffs for the next ten years. Dumars and his "always try to win" attitude is going to get him fired because they're always going to win enough to never get a great player, but not win enough to matter. He seems to have forgotten that he started building his last run by trading Grant Hill, who they only got by really sucking. And that run was an NBA abnormality. He's building the 80's Milwaukie Bucks.

It is a football term to be honest. Not sure who coined it.

For whatever reason I am not sold on Davis. To me his offensive game isn't elite -although his defense is- and the NBA is all about offense. Some guys have the body to be elite defenders (Tyson Chandler, etc.), but in the association defense is all about effort. Most guys put effort into the offensive side of the game and the rules are skewed that way too. So if you get a number one pick you had better hope it is an elite offensive player rather than an elite defensive player in my e-pinion.

I'm with you on Davis.  I see a very strong low post defender and above average rebounder but he has zilch offensive game right now and I'm not sure I see him developing one.

If my Cavs get lucky and get another high pick they could be tough next year with Irving, Thompson one year older (Thompson is quietly becoming a very good player) and Andy coming back.  Plus we have two #1 picks again this year so they could get real good, real fast and be real young all at the same time.  And we are still miles and miles below the cap so if we want to get a Free Agent or two we can.

If Lebron doesnt get his ring this year watch out.....Danny Gilbert's prediction of an NBA championship in Cleveland before Miami might actually start looking possible.

Oh I know. Davis is the clear #1, but ESPN is making it seem like Davis is going to win 50 games by himself. Comparing him to Timmay. Come on now. Tim Duncan is an amazing offensive talent. Always was and always will be. Davis isn't going to win you 50 games. I just don't see the offensive production that ESPN sees in him.

From ESPN:

"The Cavaliers were without rookie point guard Kyrie Irving, who was out with a right shoulder problem and hasn't played since April 3. Irving could return Wednesday night against Philadelphia. Cleveland forward Alonzo Gee was a late scratch because of a left ankle sprain."

My Cavs are are in full tank-job mode right now.  Got to get as many ping-pong balls as possible.....

Hope no one begrudges Manny for not getting the memo.  if you read the boxscore, it lookslike every single other player on the Cavs was in max-tank mode.  Props (or anti-props) to Antwan Jamison, who not only hsot 0-10, but set the league-wide season low in the +/- statistic with a minus-48.  Manny was the only guy in the positives in that category.
