but i don't think people realize how much of a positive impact it will have on recruting for us if it did. A lot of people I talk to seem to taking pleasure in poor draft stock report for Manny just cuz he left early, without realizing that that would play exactly into the nonsense negative recruting rap on JB ( that his teams play white boy bball which wont work in NBA).

...but Harris would make a lot of sense at #19.  After the lottery (and a lot of times in the lottery), the draft is pretty much a crap shoot.  Harris would excel in a system with proven vets (the big 3), an established PG (Rondo), and an opportunity to be a main source of bench scoring, which the Celtics desperately need.

Granted, this is quite the homer analysis, but a guy can hope.  GO CELTICS!

KG and PP are on their last lap ( a magnificient lap but their bodies arent going to last more than 1 more season). So as a Celt's fan, I think we have big needs just like everybody else and no I don't think a major project like Manny Harris is going to fill any of em.

....especially on a team like Boston.  Yes, the big 3 are on their last legs, but they won't be gone for another 2-3 seasons at least.  All Harris would have to do is run wild with the second unit while he undoubtedly gets much better in practice playing with those guys.  As a slasher/scorer, he can also give Pierce/Allen more rest.

I think Manny gets sold a bit short. In a wide open system he's potentially dangerous and he can score in bunches. I guess I think of a NYK/PHX type system and see him having some success there.

Maybe not so out there as an option for one of the second-round picks the Knicks have. Only issue is most of their (extremely limited) talent is guys who are sort of SFs - Gallo, Chandler, Walker.

Manny reminds me of Jamal in a number of ways even though their games are pretty different.  Both seemed to have an enigmatic personality I couldn't get a real handle on.  Both had a crazy ability to get themselves open, but were frustrating to watch overall in college.  Both were super skinny and seemed to have decision-making inconsistency.  I will be shocked if Manny is a good NBA player, but I was also shocked when Jamal was.

I see the parallels, but I remember Jamal being slightly "longer" (bigger arm span on a slightly taller frame) and better away from the rim (say, 20 feet).  Manny's shot has always looked flat to me and I don't think his 3-point percentage has ever been very good.  At this point it's hard to imagine him routinely draining those quick step-back long jumpers that Crawford makes.

Also, you could make more of an "upside" case with Jamal because he'd played only half a season of college ball.

Anyway, I definitely wish him the best (here or overseas).  He seems like a good character.

Too bad he's named Manny Harris and played in college.  If his name was Corperryale L'Adorable Harrishkavili and was in Europe, Chad Ford would probably say he's a lottery pick.

seems a little high for me but if it happens Ill be stoked for him.  I still think a year of college to work on his left hand and become more consistant with his jumper from range would have been good for him but I definately wish him well

Harris uses quickness and athleticism to get it done. If you combined Anderson's basketball IQ with Harris' physical tools, you'd have the perfect 2-guard.

Paraphrased: Manny Harris with a basketball IQ would make a perfect 2 guard.

Manny says -- uh...thanks?

I wish Manny all the best. This guy did a lot for the Michigan basketball program. He took Michigan to their first NCAA tourney in however many years, and he was an absolute beast. I see no reason to get mad at him for leaving early and hoping he doesn't get drafted so he "learns a lesson." Him going high in the draft can only do more good for the program.

have him going in the mid-late 2nd round.  I've even seen a couple that have him as a UFA.  Then again, the Broncos drafted Tebow in the 1st round, so just goes to show how accurate projections are.

My only response is that Donovan Warren was told he would go in the first 3 rounds of the draft.  I think Harris is a good player, but watching him this year he definitely looked like a guy who needed to work on his shooting and decision-making if he expects to play in the NBA.  That may happen, but saying things like "he is a great athlete but needs to think more" sounds like feint praise to me.
