Mamma Mia - BB team

If the refs are going to shrink the basket on the Michigan side, they should do it for BC as well. I have 10 bucks. Who wants to pitch in and buy a basket? EDIT: I wasn't insinuating the refs has something to do with poor shooting - just making a bad joke about the inability to get the ball to go down, almost as if the basket was smaller on the Michigan end of the court. Regardless, these guys are out of sync and can hopefully find the answer before the next game. This reminds me of two years ago.

The team does not look good tonight. This is bad. When they can't shoot, they have no chance to win. This is not the same shooting team from last year. The defense looks a little shaky at times as well. I expect them to improve.

They'll come around eventually; they're a young team overall, and making the tournament won't be a problem. They'll have the NIT bid wrapped up by mid-February.

I just can't believe that we are playing this bad of defense. It looks like our football team out there. I know our system calls for 3 point shooters and the 3 ball, but good lord. We have shot our way out of the last the 3 games. We just keep shooting them. Its like the coach calls timeout and we come out and shoot another freakin 3 pointer. Take the ball to rack, somebody. As I say this Gibson just hits a 3. Zach Gibson, are you kidding me. He plays hard though. I wish everyone else was as scrappy as him. Oh shit, he hit another!

Does Brandon Graham have any eligibility left to play basketball this year? Or can we at least bottle his talent and intensity and give it to DeShawn Simms?

No joke, at one point during the second half we were talking about how much we wish Sims was a heady player like Novak. Very frustrating to see Novak doing everything he possibly can to the very limits of his physical ability while Sims continues to play like a tentative shooting guard on both ends of the court. So frustrating to watch. I really hope they can turn things around quickly. A win @ Utah will be huge for us at this point.

Rumor around campus is that there are some things going on in Sims personal life (not him doing anything wrong, just typical college student issues with school and girls) that may be a distraction on the court. As much as we like to forget, these guys are still students and kids like us. It can be hard to bring your best every night. Also, all these losses took place in the span of a week. To me, this is the equivalent of one bad football game.

Why is it all night we shoot 3's then stop when we need it the most? I just don't get that sometimes. Manny just had an open 3 then decides to take in the paint to get his shot blocked. Go up strong and stop pumpin in the air so much. I like the way we didn't quit though. I really hope we get better. I can't take another disappointment this year.

i think commentary about Sims is the only thing i can put up with right now. i think he's regressed a lot this year, both in play and maturity. he's constantly staring off to blame someone else for poor play and has basically just walked around in a daze most games. he was taken off the court for good reason today.

scare some wins up. Seems like a bit more balance with the threes would help. Five solid makes in the paint and better D early in the game we win.

Not to be overly dramatic, but they can't shoot, can't shoot free throws, can't defend and can't rebound. At Utah, at Kansas and home against UConn, not to mention the rugged Big Ten schedule, has me scared. I'm afraid there's a little part of this team that patted itself on the back for being ranked #15 preseason. It's Coach Beilein's job to get them hungry again.
