Mallet vs Alabama

Submitted by BlackEvanDown on

Somewhat off-topic, but Since college football is completely on topic, Mallett is tearing up Alabama. He looks mobile and precise against a somewhat solid, yet un-tested, defense. I was holding my opinion on him until this game, but a few recent passes are continuing to sell me.

While I expect the nastiness response, how would he have done in a Carr-type offense for the past few years?

He was a classic, elite pro-style QB that would've been incredible in LCs offense. Not crazy total offense numbers like Denard, but with improved talent around him, like he would've had at UM, he would've racked up passing yards all day long.

I believe '08 might have been pretty rough on him (assuming a straight substitution for Threet / Sheridan).  He would've gotten them some more wins, though.

To put this another way, Arkansas isn't a chump team.  They get lots of good recruits.

Really guys, there is an afternoon games thread for a reason. Yes, he is tearing it up. I'm tempted to give a pass on the neg since you put forth a question at the end instead of just an observation on a nationally televised gme between two top-10 teams that pretty much everone is following, but from the looks of it you're asking a double hypothetical: for one, what if Mallett was still here, and then what if we still ran Lloydball.

I'm only concerned with offenses that are run at Michigan.

Probably not as well as Denard has done in the RR offense, but neither would compete for all the marbles with the current defense.

They're both phenomenal players in their own right, and 1-2 in Heisman hype at the moment. Wish them both the best this season!

Mallet is not making the easy throws.  Badly overthrown ball on the interception.  And then when he threw the interception he just started complaining to the ref about some foul that I didn't see.

That pick he just threw can't help, unless it allows bama to score, take the lead, and set up a come-from behind drive. He does that, and he's back up at the top of the list with Denard.

NOT!

He would have been awesome with Scot Loefler's oversight.  I don't know who is coaching him now...but his throws were not sharp (and receiver's dropped a few to boot) but the INTs.

No Heisman.  Too bad they couldn't get it done here. Alabama will lose a game thorugh IMO, McElroy is not a great either.

... what I freaking meathead Mallett is.

But then RichRod definitely knew it--as did Lloyd.

Mallett has Ryan potential alright--as in Ryan Leaf.  And to think some on this board said they'd rather have him than Denard.

And Alabama?  The stupid Wildcat?

I can't wait until 2012.  Hopefully we can play them before then...
