Malik McDowell Update

Submitted by gobluepenn6 on

He might visit OSU and FSU, also UM is still in the picture.

IMHO They seem to be handling this correctly.  It is OK to take the time you need and make the right decision.

OP EDIT: They seem to NOW be handling this correctly.  Seems to be an issue inside the family and they are taking their time to figure it out.  Obviously they did not handle things well leading up to his announcement.

OP SECOND EDIT:  Nevermind. After further review, nothing has been handled correctly.

The biggest mystery is that its not like he's a surprise recruit.  I mean he could literally go to any college in the US.  I get that he didn't enjoy the spotlight (mail, calls, texts, etc).

But the easiest way out of that is to simply make a decision.

Or be making a decision without flying all the flags.

Every other recruit has had to stick to the timetable (lets just say 99% since there's statistically bound to be others...)

The thing about going to class is what bothers me (if true and not sensationalized).  Simply because its a microcosm of working at something.  Its all about getting to a place on time despite the weather or location, and then getting to work.  The same thing could probably be said about the athletic programs, you might start as a physically dominant 5star high schooler.  But you get to college as a zero star freshman, and have to compete with other gifted athletes on the depth chart.

McDowell's ceiling would seem to be around that of Clowney (in his prime).  But reaching it doesn't happen by magic.

Zero chance here. If he wins, he goes to MSU. If his parents win, he goes out of state. Either way, outside looking in. Which is okay, if he doesn't want to come here. I hope he goes wherever's best for him.

This entire situation is a debacle. We never had a chance to have him sign and to see how his mother reacting is a joke. I hope he leaves the state and the conference for his sake. I don't think his mom will sign the LOI to Spartyville. Shouldn't be any more posts on this kid.

Sam Webb said yesterday if he committed by April 1, it would be Michigan. If it goes after April 1, "all bets are off".
