Touche on all points.

I made my post without the research and reflection that usually accompanies my posts. In fact, I was on the phone with my girlfriend AND taking a practice quiz for exams (in a separate tab) while writing it, so I probably shouldn't have clicked "submit" in the first place without checking my opinion against the facts.

I'm still bitter about Hand, but obviously that isn't a basis for saying that the class is mediocre.

And now you're making excuses, just like Michigan.  Why isn't your girlfriend taking the practice quiz for you by now?  She's been on the team long enough but we haven't seen the same develop we get out of Magnus' girlfriend.  If this one dumps you, it's a serious indictment of both your boyfriending and posting abilities.

Just busting balls, EastCoast!  I don't post a ton, but twice (including yesterday) have had an MGoBoard post rack up huge downvotes mostly on account of not thinking before I clicked "submit."  It's a brutal board but sometimes you gotta own up to it.

Cheers.

Now it's time to get YOUR facts straight. I have worked hard on my girlfriend, and have managed to turn her from an Unrated non-recruit who doesn't even WATCH sports to a Michigan girlfriend who has a mini-Final Four banner hanging in her room.

It's true that she STILL doesn't enjoy sports, but she now has multiple Michigan t-shirts, a Michigan pillow, a Michigan hat, and she pays attention to game scores.

If my fan development skills translated into player development skills, Freddy Canteen would already have broken Gallon's single game receiving record.

All but 2 of the 17 teams ahead of us in the Rivals rankings have more commits than us, and those 2 have the same number of commits as us. Considering they use the top 20 commits for each school in their rankings, we basically have 4 big fat blanks sitting there waiting to be filled. It's really too early to consider these class rankings to be definitive.

Class ranking can definitely be boosted by signing a boatload of players.  I usually like to look more at the average star/player and in that regard with Rivals, UM is in a tie for 10th.

While the rankings aren't definitive and UM only has 16 commits, barring some transfers between now and early Feb, UM only has a couple more spots open, right?  Their class isn't going to change that much over the next 2 months.

It "feels" a lot like Treadwell to me. ... but he is even quieter and closer to the vest than Treadwell.  But a heavy early lean, which went months without saying much, and then other schools pop up on his list and eventually he gone.

When a top player in the State of Michigan can't pull the trigger yet with all Michigan has to offer .. its over.  Especially since everyone thinks he is a Michigan lean.  Top 7 ... really.

Which schools has he visited? I thought only UM, MSU and OSU. It looks like he is visiting bama this weekend and Florida the next. Has he visited FSU or LSU yet? The Army bowl is January 4th, and I can't see him committing to a school he hasn't visited

If 247Sports is correct, Malik's recruiter is none other than Fred Jackson. Terry Samuel is the MSU recruiter and Bobby Williams is the person trying to get him down to Tuscaloosa. I always find the recruiters to be almost as interesting as the recruited in these situations when you have highly-touted prospects.

when they said Malik is still considered a Michigan lean, but history suggests to me that high profile guys who are 'omg Michigan locks' early who then drag out their recruitment for several more months tend to go elsewhere.

Again, I know nothing, but I'll believe it when he puts on a Michigan hat

Fine, but I bet you that's the case for many programs.  There are also a lot of guys who were locks who ended up committing too, so that's not really a good argument.  I'm not saying he'll certainly choose us, but this whole "Treadwell didn't pick us so McDowell won't either" argument is silly.

Someone with more knowledge can probably give a better answer, but I don't think "dead period" means what you think it means.  I believe a recruit can initiate any contact he wishes to have.  I'd assume that means a kid can take an official visit if he so chooses.  Additionally, I think some of the "dead periods" are just more limited contact periods.

If we are no more seperated than 6 other schools this late in the process than I am officially not getting my hopes us.  From everything I've heard it's between MSU, OSU, and UM.  If Narduzzi leaves MSU I can't see he wouldn't go to UM, but I was under the assumption he wanted to stay close to home.  Either way, I'm off the recruiting bandwagon...hopefully he comes, if not oh well.

Yeah, after dealing with 2 eighteen year olds (my kids) I've long since given up on trying to understand their decision making.  Regardless of Malik's choice, he won't make or break UM's program.  If he decides to Go Blue, I hope its because he truly wants to.

Let's face it. The whole Hand thing is so recent we are all doom and gloom for anybody who has long been a lean...especially after the way the season went. I HOPE he goes Blue, but honestly I am done worrying about recruits. I love following recruiting and think the mgostaff does a fantastic job keeping us informed. I just refuse to get wrapped up in certain guys making or breaking a program, especially after watching state take lower profile guys and turning them into all conference guys.

i wish we could go back to not knowing who our recruits for the insuing season are until we read it in Lindy's or Phil Steele's college football preview magazine, or a Michigan football season prorgam (I'm 25, so i don't remember before those days) . This whole knowing your team's classes 1, 2, and 3 years out adds way to much drama to the soap opera that college football has become. Michigan hasn't done well in the soap opera era. We did better when most of the college football world was under wraps.

I just hope we can win 80% of our games in a 10 year span again.
