I don't know, I feel like you can learn to love something you didn't really like at first.  Look at my relationship with brussel sprouts.  My mom made me eat them and at first I hated them, but then she explained to me the deep tradition brussel sprouts had and even though they weren't widely liked these days how in the past they were the king of vegetables and eventually they were gong to regain their place at the top of the cruciferous vegetables.  Now I love them, its the exact same thing with McDowell

It's hard to think of a time when Brussels sprouts were at the top of the list of cultivars of Brassica Oleracea. Think of the versatility of cabbage (slaw, kraut, stuffed). Sure the new hotness is Kale, but what kid truly would have ever chosen that.  Not to mention Broccoli or Cauliflower.  Consider also the fractal beauty that is the Romanesco Broccoli.

Would someone like to help establish a list of cruciferous cultivars and their analogous B1G universities?

One of the weirder recruiting situations Michigan has been involved in for a while.  I hope for his sake whatever concerns his parents have about him staying to close to home don't mess up the kid's career.

Not to pile on, but throw K-State on that fire, though without Devin I give us a bit of a pass.

I'd say we were a "conditional dumpster fire." As in, conditional on the talent on the team, we were a dumpster fire, unlike a team like Miami U (NTM), who were an unconditional dumpster fire.

Our winning record was built on beating some low end competition: Central Michigan, Akron, UConn, Northwestern (miracle win at that). Our best wins were Minnesota and Indiana.

It's just semantics, I guess, but  "a turd by any other name still stinks." Shakespear, right?

The family drama is a much bigger deal there. Both of his parents are adament against MSU, and not even because of fandom (like the Landon Collins mother incident). They didn't like MSU as much to start, but seemingly would have been OK with it initially, but after a couple visits and hearing things they completely turned against that idea. So if he still picks Sparty, I can't really imagine how they'd feel.

that we won't have to absolutely rely on 6-8 freshmen to play prominent roles. Hoke has 50 kids coming into their junior or reshirt sophomore years. This makes me happy, and it hopefully means that our freshmen are on the field because they're amazing rather than needed.

Good luck at MSU, MM.

I just don't see Malik going to MSU. If it does happen this could hurt his relationship with his mom for the rest of his life.

and be happy instead of caving into his parent's wishes. Logic, and that has proven to be less than an ubquitous commodity w/in the past decae: and ever declining, but....................I cannot know because I only signed one LOI and never advised anyone on what they should do.               A man, and he is a man, as to do what he wants to do.  What far too many peope don't get,and I don't know why, certain kids belong at certain schools.  That is, afterall, what the recruiting process is all about. You fashion yourselves as best you can but just as calendar years begin a new beginning, so too does every coaching change, current win/loss records, records against arch-rivals, i.e., And let's be honest we haven't faired too well lately so justly, our rivals, including those in-state should reap the benefits.  It is the team's duty to merit justification for the bullshit word exchange- which is good for both sides - to justify the fan's obnoxinous. As certainly as all MSU BB fans are begrudingly beginning to admit that UM, under coach B  has owned their ass, it is our duty as football fans to recognize the same. Cycles, cycles, cycles. College sports have always been about such.  Whether you liked RR or not-yes, he has beaten Ore in the past decade; something we've not- his words ring true, "We'll win when we deserve to win."  Signing off from Tequila, yes me amigos there really is a town named that down here, OUT

Constantly thinks he knows better than the logic and wisdom of his parents, or somehow things have changed so much since we were teens that or experience no longer applies. Usually this is when he learns the old man may still know a thing or two the hard way: like how teachers like to give you pop quizzes after snow days to see if you did anything while you are out.

That family will be fine. It is not a dishonor to disagree, even with your parents. His mom loves him, that is why she is so vocal. Whatever he decides, ultimately she is his mom. If he didn't care at all, he wouldn't be so conflicted. This is tough on them, but ultimately, I think they will be fine. Their drama is just playing out in public, but most every family has it.

If true, I'm not crushed. There are too many red flags to get horribly upset about missing out. However, it's worth the risk because of the talent (if he did want to go blue). It's kind of like picking up a hot chick at a dive bar. If it works out ok, then it was definitely worth the risk ... but there's a good chance you'll find out why she was at a dive bar by the time you get her home or wake up in the morning.

This whole recruitment was too weird.  I have a feeling this will not work out well for Malik.  Given how adamant his parents were about him not going to MSU, and how offended his mother was about something or other there, his father's "anywhere but MSU" attitude, given his focus on the party atmosphere (apparently), it all screams "problems down the road."  Not rooting against him, just reflecting on what has been reported.

Nobody is forcing anyone to hold curious ersatz announcement ceremonies with hats on a table, or anything else.

These things turn me off to the sport entirely.  It's like NFL-Lite Draft Day.  This is only a good thing for businesses like subscription recruiting services and 24-hour sports broadcasters.

I said yesterday, I'm hesitant about his character. Sure, he'd be worth the gamble because of his talent. But if he commits to UM I'll be a bit leery and if he goes elsewhere my disappoitment will include a dash of relief.
