Another snow storm with a group of major recruits in town.
The SEC will demand Michigan only see recruits in Florida to lose this huge recruiting advantage. Oh wait...
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:27 PM ^
+1, sir...
February 23rd, 2016 at 10:06 PM ^
Off to Vets Park.
February 24th, 2016 at 1:01 AM ^
Sankey: UM may have recruit visits only in June...
Random SEC coach: Ah, dang, it's freezing up in AA in June!!!!
Sankey: Fine, UM may only recruit the eastern seaboard north of Virginia Beach...
Random ACC coach: WTF, Peppers, Gary??????
Sankey: UM may NOT recruit...ever.
Delany: I got nothing to say.
February 24th, 2016 at 7:48 AM ^
"Harbaugh may only recruit wearing big floppy red shoes, and a big red nose." Aaaaaannddd IT WOUDN'T MATTER!
February 23rd, 2016 at 8:59 PM ^
Phillip Paea and Steven Spenner are also visiting.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:36 PM ^
I can tell you for certain that Paea can compete at Michigan. He's at that level.
Spenner is definitely D1 material, but probably not at Michigan level. I see him at a solid MAC program. But he's a hard-working kid. You never know he may get a lot faster in the off-season and pick up a Michigan offer if he camps well.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:51 PM ^
Yeah, I've kept an eye on Spinner, but he doesn't seem like a high FBS prospect. He has a couple offers from MAC programs right now.

and probably for good reason. Increased speed. I am not certain if it can be accomplished in an offseason, but I know it exists. Coaches do, of course, look at both parents and if capable will take in all the photos on the mantel to get some idea of what size the young man might grow into naturally and they are certain they can add weight and muscle where needed.
However I doubt there is any way science can predict an increase in speed, but based on the one person I am certain of, myself, I know I took off .2 from the time I graduated (at age 17) and the two and a half years prior to being released from the Army. At that time, track was still using the yardage, instead of metric system but I went from 10.2 a school record that still stands to 10 flat. Hell, I didn't know I had even gained that much speed until my teammates on a softball team, many of who were also my high school football team mates told me it was obvious. Finally, I summoned up enough courage to visit a track practice and asked the track coach if he would time a couple of us in the 100 yd dash. I have no idea how that translates into meters, but i do know I am very impressed when a young man turns in a 10.6 100 meters because I believe that is, at minimum, 10 yds farther. And the thought of players such as Peppers and Robinson becoming markedly faster normally remains just that, a thought.
I can see how a large person losing weight might equal qucker times. Additionally, I put on 3 inches of height and twenty lbs of good weight so I guess its possible increased strength was a factor as well. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar. I have wondered about what that additional year in school might have resulted in toward sports performance. I know it certainly could not have hurt.

with proper techniques. You may never become a burner, but work on proper form and espcially starts and a person can decrease their sprint time in any distance. These kids get to college and work with speed coaches and all will become faster during their playing days.
February 24th, 2016 at 1:34 PM ^
Don't a lot of draft prospects work on the sprinting technique before the combine hoping to maybe get just a bit faster?

Coldwater, is it safe to assume you are from Coldwater? If you look closely at my avatar you can see the Coldwater Cardinals on the wall behind me, in the old gym of course.

Would love to see one of them commit to us real early on like McCaffery and help recruit the others, that would be ideal.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:04 PM ^
Maybe they will be amazed by the snow and want more

Just assuming they're from SEC county... No idea where these boys are actually from.

They're all from Michigan - mostly from Detroit, a couple more guys (not listed) from Berrien Springs.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:12 PM ^
Thanks guys. Not sure why I thought high school kids would travel across the country on a random Wednesday.

February 23rd, 2016 at 9:16 PM ^
Berrien Springs is in southwestern Michigan.
February 23rd, 2016 at 10:23 PM ^
Beautiful area. Love Lake Michigan
February 24th, 2016 at 12:50 AM ^
Unless you're Abe Lincoln, I suppose. BS is on the river. You could get in a canoe and in a couple of hours make it to the lake. I did it once. But Lakeshore, St. Joe, and Benton Harbor are all closer.
February 24th, 2016 at 12:54 AM ^
is much closer.
February 23rd, 2016 at 11:00 PM ^
to get more snow. so yea.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:04 PM ^
Am I missing something? That is a very good group of visitors for a random wednesday...
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:08 PM ^
It's not necessarily a random Wednesday. There's a basketball game against Northwestern.
Michigan was supposed to have a big junior day for the MSU basketball game a couple weekends ago, but it fizzled out a bit for a couple reasons. So rather than having a big junior day, it appears the coaches are trying to get kids on campus in smaller groups.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:09 PM ^
Maybe this is the best time for them to meet with the coaches before they leave.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:12 PM ^
Good point dad, you're 100% right.
February 24th, 2016 at 7:53 AM ^
I'm sure the coaches will manage to slip "welp, we're off to spring training in Florida" into the conversation. Why not add: "...we coudn't get the hotel rooms in Hawaii on such short notice."
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:09 PM ^
I just added DPJ, I. Wilson, JKP, and Kaindoh to our 247 class calculator. Don't they know what they can do for us in that regard? I like the fact we are building relationships with the local talent. This is hopefully the first of many visits for all of them.

The most recent buzz I've seen on Kaindoh has him leaning toward Ohio State. We'll see what happens.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:25 PM ^
Or refuse to believe that any Defensive superstar would not want to play with Gary.
February 23rd, 2016 at 11:41 PM ^
to OSU lasted well past signing day. Years past.
February 24th, 2016 at 8:25 AM ^
obviously they all dont pan out but osu certainly has no trouble finding touted pass rushers
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:25 PM ^
Where do you get your info, OP? May want to site it.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:27 PM ^
Just did, and fixed it. My bad, forgot about that. Thanks for reminder.
February 24th, 2016 at 1:14 AM ^

Why do I have my doubts...
February 24th, 2016 at 6:42 AM ^
So it's a good thread or no?
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:37 PM ^

February 23rd, 2016 at 9:50 PM ^
And snow to the Victors. And slush to the Victors...
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:54 PM ^
I know how most people feel about bleacher report but I saw an article posted on there that Kaindoh is heavily looking into the top schools from the north...and is looking for "the best blend of academics and athletics." Has interest in becoming a Dr. And Looking to go into kinesiology, neurology or pathology...hmm mm to me sounds like we will be in it till the very end
February 24th, 2016 at 4:24 AM ^
he's picking Alabama then.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:57 PM ^
Hey Michigander8, when did you graduate? I saw you went to Ross.
