Maize vs Blue. Who ya got?
Maize vs Blue.
Need I say more?

Series Record | 39-26-2 | 26-39-2 |
Largest Win | 54-0 (1933) | 31-6 (1988) |
Longest Win Streak | 9 (1950-1958) | 10 (1990-2007) |

It's Speight/O'Korn of the Blue vs Brandon Peters and the Maize.
My pick is Maize pulling it off with another narrow win, 17-14 on a game-winning FG from Ryan Tice.
Attendance prediction: 75,000

I'd bet every penny I've ever made that attendance does not get to 75,000. I don't think we've ever gotten over 60k and it's supposed to rain Saturday.
Game prediction: Blue. IDFK it's a 50/50 shot.

I hope the Spring Game is left perfectly dry, but if you've lived in Michigan for at least a year and you see rain in the daily forecast and you're a betting man, you would not place any bets on no rain.

How on earth do you have a record of spring game outcomes? Just remarkable...

You'd be amazed at the amount of time you have to pursue trivialities when you aren't out hunting for amorous contact with the opposite (or same) sex.
Maybe that's WD's in.

"It's a fancy 3-ring binder. Want to know where else I can put those rings?"

I'm rooting heavily for Brandon Peters so I'll go with maize. Plus, if he dominates, there might be a split on the boad of who people think should start at qb. Board drama/arguments would be to good to pass up.
April 13th, 2017 at 12:52 PM ^
You mean... Even if he struggles there won't be QB drama? No matter who the backup is, he'll be the most popular guy on the team, right? Isn't that how this is supposed to work?

Be happy with 50K. It's Easter weekend and Michigan residents will take advantage of warm, dry Saturdays in April, meaning doing something other than watching a glorified scrimmage. I'll watch the replay on BTN.

That's because not many people knew about the spring game.
Unless you lived in the area, you likely didn't know it was happening. You usually found out about them in the Sunday paper.
ESPN televising spring games in the later 2000s is what made them a national dick measuring contest for attendance.
Here was our 1998 spring game crowd-
Nebraska claims to have had 60K at their Spring Game in 1998.
https://www.huskermax.com/games/1998/spring98.html
Some areas just care more about the Spring Game. Unless you are in the most populous city in the state (OSU) or in a football crazed area with nothing else to do (Alabama), it's going to be hard to do better than a half filled or 2/3 full stadium. I give Harbaugh and the staff tons of credit for generating the amount of enthusiasm required to put 50K in there in April.
We had 60,000 in 2015. And that was with cold weather but sunny day. And it was the first week of April.
Last year was on a Friday at 6pm during rush hour and it got 42,000.
This year is on a Saturday in the middle of April with 70-degree temperatures and a nice forecast, following a Top-10 finish.

Maize wins. I'd say about 30k show up. No way we're getting to some of these high attendance #'s some are predicting.
Why no maize jerseys? Hell, I'd even take maize pants. The blue team will be the only team wearing blue or maize now that our road unis have changed.
Maize was the White team from 1940-2007. 2010 was when it was changed to Maize.
Because maize/yellow jerseys for football are awful.
Or have we ceded that to PSU? Having a Maize team dressed in all white sounds like something our color-challenged friends in Columbus would do.
The team name has nothing to do with the jersey color. Michigan is called the Wolverines. Should the team dress as wolverines when playing games?
OSU dresses as jackasses every game.
It's hard to pick without knowing the complete teams...
I'm going with Maize based on the known roster. That could change a lot once we find out who the OLs are.
Attendance will be 45k. 60k was perfect weather and Harbaugh's first season, it'll be tough to match that.
Looks like Blue has a better O and Maize a much better D.
Defense might win championships, but I think offense wins Spring Games.
Maize has Gary, McCray, Bush, Hudson, Kinnel, and is coached by Don Brown. Short of the CB's, those are basically the stars of the defense COACHED by the best defensive coorindator in the country. Blue has a better offense with Speight and Evans, but have freshman o-line and worse receivers. I like Maize in this one, although I think it'll basically come down to the skill position matchups since both sides are well balanced. Either way, I care most about the development of the secondary, especially with how Peters will deal with Long and Metellus in coverage, and the general influence of veterans like Speight and McCray, which in both cases is spread over both teams. Should be a fun afternoon in A2!
Going to go Maize, with Peters really showing us how good he's going to be.
