Maize Jersey

Submitted by jvblaha on
I am watching WVU and Colorado and those all yellow jerseys are hideous. This is a great way of confirming that we should never, ever wear them under any circumstances.

We should paint our field Maize (like the Boise St. field) and wear maize jerseys for Camouflage. Change the name of our field from the Big House to the "Field of Maize". Doesn't that just scream tradition? /sarcasm.

the field could alternate between maize and blue every 5 yards. I also saw a very sincere suggestion in the comments of an annarbor.com story that someone would like to see the team run out of a giant winged helmet, while smoke machines spew out maize and blue fog. How about a maize ball? Fucking A that would be xtreme.

It's not that bad looking. I think most of the people against the uniforms are the people who don't want to "copy" WVU or Cal. I would be ok with maize jerseys and blue pants. If the team does get maize jerseys it would also help with the fans participating in maize outs.

We've established that many people are opposed to the possibility of maize jerseys and we've also seen that many people are indifferent or even in favor of the maize jerseys. I personally think maize jerseys would be a terrible idea, but if we were to suit up in maize at some point this season, it would by no means effect how I love our wolverines. Let's put the maize jersey issue to bed and kick the shit out of little brother on Saturday.

The jerseys may look bad, but the matching jerseys and pants look much much worse. WVU looks like they are all wearing leotards or pajamas. Hideous. And what is worse is that this is not the first time - somebody thinks it looks good!!!

They should never allow them to change the home uniforms (jerseys or pants). That's completely off limits. The road uniforms wouldn't be as big of a deal. I could handle it if they wore maize jerseys with white pants (circa 1973) or white jerseys with blue pants. I think that the home team would need to agree to let you wear something other than white on the road though. Maybe they could just be penalized a time out like in the USC v. UCLA game last year where both teams wore home unis.

Lou Holtz becoming a competent halftime analyst than there is of Michigan EVER changing its uniforms. Plus, if you think the piped in RAWK music riled Brian, can you imagine how steamed he'd be over this? Seriously, he'd spontaneously combust. The fact that people are seriously advocating for maize jerseys is fine, I guess. The fact that they think it has more than 0 % chance of happening is laughable.

with blue pants would look better than all maize. I still wouldn't want to see UM do that though. I am generally opposed to all teams that wear the same color pants as uniforms, unless its all white. You just look silly.

Even all white doesn't look quite right. I just watched the '04 Michigan MSU game on ESPN Classic and MSU uniforms looked ugly in my opinion and they were wearing all white.

don't hate me for it. I mostly agree that we shouldn't wear them just b/c of tradition, but I'm a sucker for that alternate uniform for special games.

I'm not that wild about our away uni's...in fact I think they're boring. The hoops team looks good in the maize, so maybe they could come up with a suitable design for the FB team that isn't as offensive as WV's were last night. The two shades of gold w/Colorado on the field didn't help either.

Thank you for mentioning the maize basketball jerseys, I was thinking the same thing. Those look sick, like intimidating and awesome; I love it when the team comes out in those. I really think if we were to have maize football jerseys (which we never will) that they would be tasteful and not WVU-esque fail (I mean what's the fashion in West Va anyway? overalls and tobackey?) Anyway, tradition has to start somewhere and I think maize jerseys wouldn't be as disgustingly horrendous as most people here seem to think. please, by all means neg away haters!

I love the maize polo. I have the one from last year with the blue stripes on the arms and it gets all kinds of looks at work. The maize color polo adds to the mystique of us Michigan folks being arrogant.

I would dig a maize jersey/white pants combo for a one-time special away game. It would look similar to Georgia Tech, although I anticipate that Michigan's would look MUCH better with Maize. The home uni however should not be touched, ever.

Thanks to Pete Carroll at USC, you can now go "color vs color" in jerseys as along as there's enough contrast between the two teams(ie Michigan blue vs UCLA blue--Yes, but Michigan blue vs Penn State blue--No). The rules don't cover pants or helmets, just jerseys. So given that, here's MHO about what our future unis should be: 1) Michigan should always wear the home blue jerseys and maize pants at home (duh), AND wear them whenever possible on the road, esp at East Lansing, Columbus, and bowl games! 2) If blue jerseys aren't possible on the road due to dark jerseys on the home team (ie @PSU, @Ill, @NW, @Iowa, @Pur, @ND), then wear a new primary road uniform of maize jerseys and blue pants! 3) If for some reason maize jerseys aren't possible either, then break out the traditional white jerseys and maize pants. 4) Just say no to all-white.

I was watching the Oregon-Cal game and I thought to myself how cool it is that Michigan, Penn State, Alabama and other schools with untouched, classic, traditional uniforms have not caved to commercialism. I truly feel sorry for fans of: UGA - Black Jerseys WVU - Gold Jerseys Oregon - 1,378 uniform combos Boise State - WTF is that field? I think that there is something to be said for sticking with what works. The maize pants are perfect and both the home blue and the road white jerseys contrast perfectly with them. I trust that Michigan will never succumb to a cash grab scheme and bring out a maize jersey like UGA did with the black(lame & played out) jerseys last year.
