I recall one of the main questions going into this game was how M would deal with Alabama's speed. After the game one of M's players addressed the issue after the game and indicated the players were like "yea whatever", whenever reporters would ask them how they would deal with the speed of Alabama. Turns out they dealt with Alabama's speed pretty well.

Another memory I have from that time was  the contrast between the behavior of the players in the M vs Alabama game with the MSU vs Florida game from the same day. MSU and Florida were undisciplined, fighting, talking trash and generally engaging in embarrassing behavior in their bowl game, M and Alabama not so much. The MSU game featured the debut of the Bobby Williams era as Nick Saban had recently left for the LSU job.

Spoiler alert: Michigan and MSU beat their SEC adversaries that day

Man, if Shawn Thompson would've never gotten hurt the next year, in the first game against Bowling Green I think he would've been a nice NFL tight end, he was a beast.

I had a brief moment of surprise at the end there seeing Hoke jump in front Llyod in the celebration. For some reason I had forgotten he was still here in 2000. Would have been great to see him pointing.
