M a top 3 QB Class!

Submitted by Dailysportseditor on

Congratulations to Coach Harbaugh and the rest of the Michigan team on having a top 3 QB class in 2015!  [Per Scout:  http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=14&view=3&yr=2015]

QB was our biggest position need by far with the departure of two QB's.  The fact that we had one of the smallest recruiting classes in the country and still managed to successfully fill our biggest need speaks volumes.

This is an excellent class.  We knew it wasn't going to be a year with a lot of kids.  For the amount of time Harbaugh had, this class worked out great.

Considering (a) the short amount of time that the coaches had to recruit, and (b) that Michigan has the fourth smallest recruiting class In FBS, tied with Pittsburgh and Nevada with 14 players [only Colorado State (13), Hawaii (12) and Kent State (10) have fewer players in the 2015 recruiting class], I'd say that's . . .

Pretty good haul, love that Wheatley pulled the trigger. Weber's explanation of his thinking during the live feed was interesting. I can hear Meyer telling him that he will be his man (at RB) and greasing him up real good. Hope Higdon gives the returning crew stiff competition.

As noted in a thread below, this class jumped over 30 spots to find itself in the first quartile of Division I receruiting classes, and I'll take that. If this ends up being the worst one in the Harbaugh era at Michigan, it was due to lack of time and not lack of effort - there was definitely plenty of effort. It makes me look forward to 2016 and beyond that much more when it comes to recruiting honestly.

2 4*s beat a 5 star. Then you look at what rank the players are themselves. If you have two high 4*s (similar to what Michigan has) that is very good. You can also have a high 4* and a high 3* that trumps a 5* as well. That 5* may have the best career, but I guess their thought is having more good-decent recruits is a better class than one great (in theory) recruit. That's my only explanation.

Even more excited to watch this staff develop their recruits than watching them acquire talent. I think the past few seasons should have illustrated how little star rating predicts performance, and hiw frustrating it is to see good talent deteriorate. I'd rather have a team that gets three stars to play like four, than a team that gets five stars to play like four. Best of all: a team that gets five stars to play like six. Go Blue!
