M Still #1 per Cullen Christian Update

Submitted by Matt EM on

Please let this guy give a verbal on 11/24, we need to solidify the secondary on an urgent basis, don't care whether he's at safety or CB, but because of speed issues he's probably better suited for safety.

this secondary class could end up being just what the doctor ordered assuming MarvRob stays at Safety and we land two of the Christian, Mathis, Grimes group.

edit: will MarvRob end up playing in the Stevie Brown role? or will the coaches just try to get him on the field?

From his last update on Rivals:

"Coach Greg Robinson was telling me I am mostly going to be playing what Stevie Brown is playing right now, a hybrid strong safety/linebacker. Mostly I've been watching [Brown] and seeing everything that he's been doing. I think that I can fit in real good at that position. I'm just ready to get down there and be on the team."

If Christian doesn't commit to Michigan, I fear the entire Michigan blogsphere will meltdown to the point of no return. Never have I seen a kid say Michigan is his outright leader time and time again yet continue his recruiting process this late.

I talked to him a couple weeks ago, and he said the same thing.

I also just spoke with Tony Grimes a couple days ago, and he said Michigan leads for him and Clarence Murphy, his teammate.

I had a post about this and a couple other defensive recruits, but I'm not sure where it went.

Brian referenced your post on Grimes in the podcast and I thought it was odd that I missed it. I checked and saw nothing. Maybe it has something to do with Halloween approaching..woooooooooooooo.

he set the date for a few days after his visit for the osu game. this kid is just enjoying the recruiting process. as for robinson, this kid is going to be a beast. i honestly wouldn't be shocked if he started next season if he enrolled early. between robinson, jones, hawthorne, bell, and bsmith i really like our young LB's (undersized but tough and athletic).

I had feared that they'd round peg/square hole him in at safety, as I thought I'd heard that he preferred to stay there. I'm a big believer in the current scheme that shifts players to "slower" positions to increase overall speed.

Hopefully we can land Christian as a safety and add some "true" CBs to the fold.
