M Softball Split with Indiana today

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

In the first game, Stephanie Kirkpatrick and Ashley Lane both hit dingers today to lead the Michigan Softball team to a 3-0 victory in Bloomington, Indiana.  Haylie Wagner got the start and the win.  She was relieved by Sara in the 6th Inning after she gave up 2 ER.  Sara got the save.

Haylie final stats were 2 ER off 7 hits.  She gave up 1 BB and 1 HBP.  Sara finished with 0 runs on 0 hits 0 BB and 0 Ks.

In the second game, we lost 7-2.  Sara got the ball first and went 2 innings.  She gave up 3 ER on 4 hits.  She gave up 2 BB and 2 Ks.  Haylie came on in relief.  She pitched 2 innings.  She allowed 3 ER off 4 hits.  She recorded 1 BB and 1 K.  Hilary Payne finished the game.  She allowed 1 ER off 1 hit, with 0 BB and 0 Ks.

The offense was led by Taylor Hasselbech.  She had a 2 run single in the 5th inning.  Colie went 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Somewhat disappointing trip for the ladies.  We come back tomorrow for the rubber game.  We really need to win as many B1G games as possible to hope to get a home seed for the World Series.

Damn there is always something with playing indiana and this team.

MGS, you've said on here that you have an MGoBlueTV subscription. Were the games from today on MGoBlueTV? Would that be a good investment to get a subscription?

it is worth it to me.  I pay $10/mo for 2 months from basically mid March to Mid May.  I cant always get to A2 for the games so it is worth it.  You pay for 30 days of coverage from the day you pay.

I also look at it as a donation to the U as well.  They get a kick from it too.  I always thought the more I spend at MGoBlue.com and the MDen the more likely DB would NOT raise season ticket prices.....eer, I guess I was wrong.

The announcers are terrible and the color is even worse.  Once you get by the fact that runners are in "scoring position" while at second base is NOT TRUE in softball; its not unwatchable.

I am going to get a full-year in July so I can get the entire 2012-13 athletic year. The more research I do, the better it gets. There are 20 baseball games on it this season, a huge chunk of women's basketball, men's lacrosse and probably the hockey games not on TV next season will be on MGoBlueTV.

After the weekend, Purdue will have no more than one loss, Nebraska will fall below us barring them winning and M losing tomorrow. M could be anywhere from T1st to fourth by Monday.

I have the subscription and for what its worth I think its a good value....M was lucky to survive the first game and the second game was ugly..Hitting was not there and pitching wasnt very good at all... I know Michigan is rebuilding this year. If they can manage to win the B10 this year that would be a MAJOR success.. They played a very tough nonconference schedule beat ranked teams such as UCLA, Auburn, LSU etc and narrow losses to Oklahoma and Arizona State.

The pitching hasnt been what we are used to but were starting 2 Freshman. They are not the dominating pitching weve been used to but they are young.

The bats need to get going..They are stranding ALOT of runners on base and not capitalizing as much as we are used to. This is going to be a total rebuilding year so If we are in the title chase all year  and make the NCAAs (which we will) I will consider it a successful season. I believe we have a good shot at hosting a regional because of our facilities and being the dominant Midwest program even if we arent one of the top 16 seeds. If we can go on a good run we still have a shot at a top 16 anyways...

Todays game at Indiana is VERY big for the team..They need this win to stay withing one game of first depending on Purdue does
