M Softball cant get it done; lose 2-0 vs #7 Oklahoma

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

The Michigan Softball Team was one key hit away from victory tonight against #7 Oklahoma.  We had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th with only 1 out, and could not get it done.  We had a strike out and a simple ground out to end the inning.

What a difference a year makes.  Last year we would have got that key hit to win the game.  This year we are looking on ebay to buy a key hit.  I checked too and could not find any.

Haylie pitched very well tonight.  She ended up yielding 1 ER on 7 hits.  She had 3 strikeouts and 3 walks.  All in all not a bad outing for Haylie.  She certainly pitched well enough to win.

We ended up with 4 hits total.  Amy had 2, Colie and Lyndsay had one each.  What a tough way to lose.  I know the girls are heart-broken because they are playing well enough to win most of these close games.  Maybe I should look on Craigslist for a key hit.

up that way.  Sara has struggled of late but she has pitched good enough to win most of her games.  The offense let her down.  Sara has made only 4 or 5, what I call "bad pitches".  That is excellent pitching in my book for a freshman at the highest level imaginable.

Spidey has not had many opportunities to step in.  Spiedy is a great pitcher too but she doesnt have that extra "POP".  She is a modern day Vida Blue: has to rely on her smarts, which is not a problem for her or any member of the pitchers for that matter.

Early on I thought Sara was going to be the #1 heading into the B1G.  We will know more tomorrow against #5 and defending NC Arizona St.  I think Haylie gets the ball.  You have to ride the hot arm.

My prediction is Haylie is the #1 for the foreseeable future.

Thanks again for the insight. I don't really get to see the team until the B1G Network starts carrying their games. Does Haylie have that grit to win factor JT had the past couple years?
