M scoring history

350 points scored so far this year.

The highest scoring Wolverine team outside of Yosts 1901-1905 teams was in 2003 with a total of 460 including the Rose Bowl.

4 games to go, 111 points. 27.75 per game. @ Purdue and tOFU, home vs Wisc and Bowl Game X.

I think we'll see our highest scoring team of the last 100 years and yes, I'd rather consider that than the other side of the ball.

I feel like all the records we've broken on offense at least balance out all the bad records the D has broken. I would love to see a complete list at the end of the year, if anyone has that much time. Has to be at least 50 total new records (team and personal) set this year alone.

and we will set a Michigan record for points in a bowl game. We may also set a Michigan record for points given up in a bowl game, but we'll win.

I'm not a huge fan of counting OT points towards scoring stats. It totally distorts the score (each team starting at the opponent 25; higher scores for multiple OTs). We should think of OT more like the tiebreaker in tennis, and the game should read: M wins, 46-45 (22-20).

The much maligned Michigan defense made the stop when they had to yesterday, unlike the 2000 defense in another 1st week of November game.  During the last 3 seasons one of the most repeated laments has been " remember when we had a real defense."

Under the lights in Evanston that "real Michigan defense" got beat on a slant pass with 20 seconds left in the game that put Northwestern up 52 to 51, the defense then gave up the 2pt conversion putting the Wildcats up 54 - 51.

Anthony Thomas's fumble while Michigan was running out the clock had set the stage for the Wildcat's come from behind winning score.  After the Wildcat's took the lead Drew Henson got the Michigan offense just into Wildcat territory setting up a Hayden Epstein 56 yard field goal attempt (Epstein had already made a 52 yarder) that would have taken this instant classic game into overtime, but a bad snap forced holder John Navarre to throw a pass on the final play of the game.

Michigan endup 9-3 in 2000 with a bowl win over Auburn, Northwestern won a share of the B10 title.

So the critics can cry about the WAC style game played yesterday against the Illini, but this just might be the game that gets the program over the hump and on the way to not only restoring the pride in Michigan football, but the beginning of whole new era of winning.

On this day November 6th 2010, ten years and 2 days after the "real Michigan D" couldn't get a stop when they needed it, the oft-criticized Maize and Blue defense made *the* play they had to have insuring a gritty come from behind, 2 quarterback, 3 circus catch, bone jarring kick return blocking Bowl qualifying victory.

And oh by the way; it just might have been the defensive play that insured the continuation of the Rich Rod era an offensive scheme that is sure to excite legions of Michigan fans.

Well done Defense! (wow did I really just say that)

Yeah I know I am dating myself but my freshman year in 1973 I believed we only played 11 regular season games (vs 12 now). We ended the year undefeated with a 10-10 tie to OSU. No overtime and no bowl game. Not exactly comparing apples to apples with the rules today.

Regardless, our offense this year is something to behold. I hope they score 67+ in each of their final 3 reg season games.
