M SB wins second today vs Florida Atlantic
The Michigan Softball team won the second game of the day today by defeating Florida Atlantic 2-0. This comes off the heels of a very nice 3-0 win against #22 Kentucky.
Sara Driesenga had the ball today and pitched a complete game shutoout. She scattered 5 hits, fanned 2 strikeouts and issued no walks. Coming into today's game, Sara's ERA was a very small 0.64.
The offense was led by Chiddy. She 1 for 3 with an RBI. We only managed to eek out 3 hits but we were helped by 2 FAU errors. Crummey had a stolen base again this game. Our team speed is awesome.
We play tomorrow at 9am to wrap up the FAU Tourney. We then play next weekend in Clearwater, Florida. We should remain right around the #11 spot. I dont see the Md loss hurting too much.

Who do you expect to be the go-to pitcher down the stretch?

Stephanie is the "old pro" of the 4. She is probably the most crafty simply due to her experience behind Jordan. Sara is probably the most dominant. She has a great ERA and her K to BB is great. Haylie is a great pitcher too, although her ERA is slightly elevated. She has an advantage being a LHP.
If Sara keeps pitching like this, I would expect her to gain that valuable experience needed. However, Stephanie could step up. Haylie could be just having a somewhat slow start to the season. We have to remember this is the first time Haylie has played for a cold weather team.
Sorry for the non-committal but it is anyone's game at this point. We will know more as we get closer to the Judi Garman Classic.

understand where your coming from with the either of the 3. Was it Sara that you said you said "could be the next JT"? Or was that Hayley?

It should be pointed out that Driesenga got the two biggest starts of last weekend (opener vs La Tech plus Saturday vs LSU) and the two biggest starts of this weekend (Maryland and Kentucky).
Right now, Driesenga is clearly Hutch's number one pitcher. That could change at any time of course, but there is no reason yet to expect that it will.

What an amazing day for Michigan athletics. Can't wait to watch the ladies at Wilpon in a couple months.
