M SB wins 2nd Game; loses First Game Today
The Michigan Softball Team won the second game of 2 today in Boca Raton Fla by beating Long Island (NY) 4-0. We lost the first game to Maryland 7-3.
In the first game, Maryland Ace Kendra Knight was just too much for us. She finished the game with 6 Ks and 11BB. We just could not get the timely hits. Sara Driesenga took the loss but pitched rather well. Sara gave up only 2 ER off 12 hits with 2 Ks and 1BB. We committed 5 errors in the game that killed us.
In the second game against Long Island, Haylie Wagner got the 4-0 shutout win. Haylie finished with 4 Ks and 1 BB. The offense was led by Ashley Lane who hit a Bomb (1 for 3) with 2 RBIs.
Coach gave Chiddy the game off to allow some others to get into the lineup. These early games give the coaches an opportunity to evaluate the young talent.
This puts our record at 5-1 thus far. Our next game is tomorrow at 1pm against #22 Kentucky. This will be a great match up for us.

and yes tickets are required. They are being sold at the gate. You can by the All-Access pass or individual game tix. I think they were $6 for games and $15 for the All-Access last year but you better check it out for yourself.

Hopefully this year is better than last's crazy ending - losing to Kentucky at home in Regionals. Kentucky. I will never forget watching on ESPN and never understanding how our bats never opened up - Dorian Shaw was quiet, Evans unusually quiet at the plate.
One of the best things about softball season are the Pac-12 girls, particularly the AZ, ASU and UCLA babes. Every single year they just reload the talent. I hate ASU, I look forward to Michigan heading back to OKC for the CWS. Would love to see Michigan vs UofA/Tx A&M/FL Finals. Particularly would love to see Michigan beat the Gators in the Finals, or Alabama. Stanford has a particularly tough team - Toby Gerhart's sisters - pitcher and catcher - are very athletic, good players - the sister who plays pitcher isn't too bad.
