M now #3 on ESPN 2014 Recruiting Rankings

Texas will start to fall down the list if their entire class fills up with guys of similar quality to what they already have. They have decent recruits, but they're ranked so highly because they already have 14 verbals.
that as other classes fill up to 23-25 kids, UM will drop since the class size is going to be around 20, tops, and the services seem to like larger class sizes with lower ranked averages than smaller classes with higher ranked players
I thought they only counted the top 20 recruits? Or maybe that was Rivals?
A few of the sites (if not all) only use the top X number of commits. That way taking 30 three-stars doesn't outweigh taking 20 four-stars.
Of course these rankings don't matter, but imagine if we get Peppers.

Why did the ranking change suddenly? Did they adjust their player rankings? Did LSU lose a recruit? Or are these rankings totally subjective and someone at the WWL had a change of heart?
As far as I know, ESPN doesn't do the rolling team rankings like other sites do. Every month or so, they do a re-calculation and re-release the list. So if we added like 4 new players today, we would have to wait for a new team rankings list from ESPN. Not like Rivals or 247 where the entire list would be updated today.

Brady Hoke certainly has shown the ability to recruit. I have no doubt Michigan will only improve in future years with these great recruiting classes and great coaching.

We were recruiting better than them already when Urban made that challenege. Certainly not directed at us
I won't argue to say who has had the better class based upon rankings because The Game is played on the field and not in the recruiting rankings. Michigan will recruit high character kids both on and off the field under Hoke to match his coaching philosophy, just like Meyer will too. Honestly, both are close to dead even although I'd give Michigan a slight edge in recruiting because of Hoke/Borges/Funk ability to saturate the pool of talent for offensive linemen with ratings 4 stars or higher. Its an area OSU recruiting is struggling in but will likely improve in, at least I hope.
As for Meyer comment, I agree with you, I don't necessarily think this is directed at Michigan, and more so other schools in the conference that don't have a brand name like Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State or Nebraska. Some schools have boost their level of recruiting across board which can only make the quality of competition that much better and increase a weakend conference image. Indiana pulled in their best recruiting class in school history for 2013. Northwestern is on their way to the best recruitment class under Fitzgerald. Minnesota has a 4* RB from MN and 3* QB from KS already in May...
I can understand how schools that don't normally have outstanding recruiting classes can percived his comment as arrogance, but in reality its in the spirit of competition. I think in the interest of Michigan and Ohio State vying for a playoff spot in the future, its benefical that the conference be as strong as it possibly can which all starts with recruiting.
