FWIW. Michigan doesn't seem inclined to get re-involved.
M-MSU Basketball Happy Snowflakes Thread
I can't breathe
I'm here for the POSBANG!!
Think Burke is God now.
I didn't what to expect after Burke's miss layup which could of resulted in a +12 margin. Instead MSU gets BS 5 point possession. 7 point swing in matter of seconds...
did msu travel all night and then mysteriously get fouls called on us somehow during the rest of the game?
We actually were getting a good home whistle for most of the game. All the block-charges were going our way, and some other questionable calls, too. But then it was a complete 180 at the end...
Trey Burke. YESSSS!
My sports soul really needed that one.
I missed the entire game except the last 3:53 because it is my wife's birthday and I took her out. Needless to say I destroyed any goodwill I had going in the last 4 minutes of the game as a result of my behavior and commentary. Thank God for Trey Burke. I can tell it is going to be a little icy around my house for the next couple hours. At least we won the game.
What, she can't handle a bit of yelling and swears all directed at the TV? A man's gotta vent!
How would she feel to your reaction if we had lost?
I would be sleeping on the couch. Since we won, I now have a couple hours to undo the damage I did. If we would have lost I would still be doing damage. I'm confident I will be sleeping in the bed tonight.
Half of the married people I know have told me that divorce can be a blessing.
Sounds like half of the married people you know made a bad decision to get married in the first place.
Call me old-fashioned, but I have this novel idea that you should only marry someone that you actually like and are compatible with.
To watch the end again.
This game was ugly as hell and we pulled it out without making a single outside shot. Hardaway was awful. Stauskas didn't even play but the defensive intensity was there for 40 minutes. That is why we won. Huge win for this team's confidence and helps reel in the possible downward spiral started with the Penn St loss this week. Play with the same defensive intensity this week and maybe...just maybe.....
hugely for the remainder of the season and perhaps a bit for this game.
It forced them to take it to MSU instead of settling for jumpers.
Not sure we win that game with the way he's been playing defense. Levert played great and McGary was awesome. Go Blue!!
as they didn't rely on the three (0-fer-12).
They took 6 in each half, but before checking, I would have guessed less than six in the 2nd half.
Much more frustrating to me than the missed threes were the 2 or 3 missed layups we had. Absolutely can't have those if we want to win close games in March. At least we didn't continue to jack up threes that clearly weren't falling like we have in other games.
I think that we should, first and foremost, thank Michigan State for its eighteen turnovers, but perhaps more importantly, a spirited defensive performance from Michigan which included 11 steals (thanks, Trey!). We had only nine offensive rebounds to State's seventeen, but we did an awesome job of making sure they could capitalize on not many of them. Very spirited play!
Thank you Coach Izzo for taking that timeout with 5 seconds left in order to set up a terrible possesssion instead of letting your players press their advantage against our retreating defenders.
2nd year in a row that we beat Sparty on a game-winning defensive play...
that trey burke still was instant classic. he gets one a game and he picked the right moment for that one.
He had two steals in the last 30 seconds to win this game for us. Literally. He scored the winning point off of a steal and stole the ball to prevent MSU from getting a chance to win at the end.
You had told me Michigan would go 0 - 12 from 3 and still win I would have suggested a detox facility for you.
I missed the first half. Can someone tell me what happened with Stauskas? Hurt? Benched?
Elbow to the eye and 12 stitches.
Too much going on to mention this at the time, but did anyone else catch whichever annoucer said, "It's hard to imagine, but Derrick Nix weighed 340 lbs in high school"? WTF? How is that hard to imagine? Have you not, like, looked at him?
P.S. Awesome game! Especially Trey (I know, big surprise) and McGary.
Watching him waddle down the court made me smile. I saw in Izzos post game pressed Nix was "frustrated" that he was being pushed around. I find that hilarious given what his frame dishes out.
What really concerns me with the threes is not the lack of makes, but the lack of good looks. It seemed like every 3 was either a tough shot or it was contested very well. Other than that, go McGary, go post touches, go blue, and go Burke! Incredible job!
MSU was hugely conscious of the 3 and really got up in our guys' grills at the perimeter. But that opened up the drive inside. We had way more points in the paint than I'd have ever imagined.
I love Burke Ohio kid and from Cbus lol. Hail to the Victors. 32-1 at home with Burke and since Hoke arrived 46-1 at home football and basketball!!!!
Trey. Fucking. Burke.
It's about time one of our guys took over a game and willed us all to victory!
Feeling much better now. This win cleared up a couple of days worth of 'funk'.
He's a freshman. He'll get better on D.
Probably, but I doubt he'll ever be good. Just need to get his shooting to where it's consistent and he'll be a great player. Just not this year.
I think LeVert should start to get at least 20 minutes per game. He is just so much better on defense. He's pretty raw offensively, but he has some serious potential imo.
Trey Buke is my dude!
