M Lacrosse comes up short in low scoring game @ High Pont, 9-7

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Another tough day for Michigan Lacrosse.

Last game for the men was a crushing 15-14 OT at home to the #16 team in the country cornell. Leaving fans thinking what might have been.

In the lowest scoring game in program history, Michigan comes up two goals short at High Point, losing 9-7.

Next up for the men is Furman who is 0-5 on the season. This is a must-win game for Michigan.

The Women got beat 15-7 at Jacksonville tonight. They travel to Gainesville on Saturday to play the #5 Florida Gators. Yikes.

Stats aren't working either so looks like the only way to get updates is twitter until the "network" shows la rosse. Stupid mid majors.

Wow, this is an exceptionally boring baseball game.  HP has a runner on 3rd at least in the bot 12th.  I'm rooting for them there at least.

(I actually love baseball - just not Big South baseball or whatever the hell this is)

The feed is up. Portnoy scores and it is 3-3 at halftime. This could be the lowest halftime score in program history.

We've been killed on face-offs and haven't been great at getting GBs.  If we can actually get the ball in the second half we should be in good shape.

Boy, we look bad.  I mean, we look like the more talented team, but super sloppy.  This game has come down to us making way too many mistakes, and them making far fewer of them.  Can't kill yourself.

This is a game that we should have won, and completely nullifies the Detroit win.  Everyone can recalibrate their expectations back down.

With Michigan up 5-3 a turnover/score (short handed goal) deep on Michigan side of field really took the momentum from UM. HP scored 3 unanswered to take a 6-5 lead. HPU stayed in Michigan territory in the 4th. Shots on goal was also dominated HPU. Michigan played a clean game and got no penalties but didn't take as much advantage of them as they would have liked to. This was my first Lacrosse game and a great experience. Loved having the Wolverines playing anything with 15 mins of my house. I'm also a HPU alum but I'm True Blue!

I'm wondering if this team will struggle disproportionately on the road. Lot's of young guys still. Also, remember they are practicing in Oosterbaan now and it's a big switch to be outside. North Carolina is actually pretty cold right now.

Tough loss, recalibrate expectations again.
