M Lacrosse beats Mercer 20-7 for 3rd win in program history

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Team 3 is off to a rocky start going down 22-7 to PSU last week. John Paul called it the second worst loss of his coaching career going back to the mid-90s.

Michigan gets Mercer at Oosterbaan Field House tonight in the home opener. A more than winnable game. Michigan got their first win in program history against the Bears in 2012 down in Jacksonville in a 14-4 blowout.

Keys to the game: keep the damn ball in the offensive zone all game.

EDIT: WOOOOOO they did more than keep it in the offensive zone!

Michigan steamrolls Mercer. 12 different Wolverines score, 6 had two or more goals and Andrew Portnoy had a hat trick.

Michigan gets Detroit on Wednesday night at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac. I expect you to be there!

Andrew Portnoy scores his second of the night.

With that goal, Team 3 has broken the program record for goals in a single game set against mercer in 2012.

15-6 Michigan.

Francia scores to give Michigan a 10 goal lead AND ONE. A cheap shot after the play puts Michigan on man-up.

16-6 Maize & Blue.

Michigan is a young team playing without their goalie. Mercer isn't any good, but blowing them out is still a very good sign. Without injuries, I thought they'd win 4-5 games this year, but now it's probably more like 3-4, which means you have to win the easy ones.
