I'm again totally baffled by how bad this team is. I'm watching 2nd rounders in PDG and Boo out there along with Merrill and Trouba and I just cannot figure how a team with this much talent is somehow behind Alaska-Fairbanks in the CCHA standings

So i was at the game Saturday, sat right nex to the band (lower bowl). Everyone seemed to have a good time, I was even having fun with these Mich. St. fans that were sitting next to me. We were talking crap to each other but it was all in good nature. Until some Mich. St. fan and his mini side-kick started pointing to me giving me the finger and saying things like "fuck off". I brushed it off, enjoying Michigan in the lead. This kept going on throughout the entire game. Between the 2nd and 3rd period, the same Mich St. guy walked past me up the stairs and said "there's no one way you can be a Michigan student, you must go to U of M Dearborn". He was insunuating that because my girlfriend and I are people of color, we could not go to a school like the University of Michigan. I will have you know that I am getting ready to graduate with a B.A. in criminal justice, and plan on getting my Sociology degree as well going to graduate school. So the third period started with the racist jokes, saying things to I want a taco and where's your green card and things like that (my girlfriend and I are Americans with Mexican descent). Game over, we won, thought that would be the end of this story. WONG! The same guy along with his little crony walked past me still talking shit. I finally had enough. I told him to keep walking and shut the fuck up. He did, but his partner stopped, looked at me. I told him what, you got a problem too? I'm tired of this shit, walk away or do something because I will fuck you up. He responded with "you know you fucking ignorant you sound, you stupid fucking wetback." and "you're 4'8" I'll squash you (I'm short, but not that short; and he was barely taller than me) This got my blood really boiling. i took off my glasses, took off my jacket, and told him to boss up and do something and walk away. By this time the usher was on his way down, the dude that was talking shit the entire time ran down, grabbed his boy by the collar, and ran away. The whole time they were walking away they were screaming "fuck you, you little bitch, pussy". All while giving me the finger. I have never been so offended at a sporting event in my life. How dare someone say things like that to me and my girlfriend. So has this ever happened to anyone before? This was my first time at a rivalry game, are Mich St. fans loud and ignorant like this? Have any other people of color been harassed and said racist comments to? Since when did being only "white" make you a Michigan student anyways? I see blacks, Mexicans, Asians, people off all ethnicity on campus. Comment your remarks, please.

All you need to do is not say anything and point to the scoreboard. That's what I did one time and they shut up quickly because Michigan was winning.

It sounds like you encountered a couple of real losers. There are idiots in every fanbase, but in this case, it seems other MSU fans were tolerating their racist bullshit as well. The only thing I can say, is that there is a portion of MSU's fanbase who have an inferiority complex when it comes to anything UM and they get irrational rather quickly when UM succeeds. Couple that with racism and probably alcohol in these two jerks and it seems to have made for a volatile mix. To me, though, this goes beyond just two assholes. As I already mentioned, where was the embarrassment by the other MSU fans and attempts to get the two losers to shut their mouths? That is what I would hope any fanbase would do when some of their own are behaving that way.

yeah I really wouldn't go as far as calling all MSU fans racist and such. But there were other MSU fans sitting next to us. A group of girls that were black. I would hope that they would have felt something and said something to these guys, but they didn't. Those chicks were cool, along with the Older group that were sitting in the same row as me. I had fun messing with them, and we were all talking carp to each other but it wasn't dirty or low. This guy took it too far, and yeah I am sure he alcohol was involved. I mean, I'mnot going to lie and say I didnt't have a few beers while I was there.
