Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

The 2012-13 Michigan Hockey schedule is slowly starting to be pieced together as other teams release theirs. Michigan usually torments us by keeping us in suspense releases their complete schedule sometime in August, but here is some news.

Michigan will welcome the tigers from Rochester Institiute of Technology of the AHA, on Thursday 10/11 and Friday 10/12. They usually do this to cater to the homecoming football game. This will be the first time ever the two schools meet on the ice. Both games will be 7:05pm starts.

RIT is the team, that shocked the world and made the Frozen Four in 2010 which was played at Ford Field.

11/3 at Northern
11/9 vs State

Comerica will be filled if there's a Michigan-MSU game, but I doubt if there will even be 10K people for the other matchups since people will banking on going to see Michigan-MSU in the championship.

So I love this. I was so excited to see their (relative) success a few years back. Even after they lost, the fans still packed Ford Field and they kept chanting "R-I-T!" for the entirety of the next day's games.

I'm curious, if you don't mind my asking, where at? I always love meeting fellow Wolverines from the area. I only knew like 3 people through college from the area, and another from my town who came since. Not a huge representation from the Ra cha cha.

I grew up in Fairport went to McQ, parents taught (mom still does) at RIT.  Attended many hockey games at RIT growing up including their D-III national championship run in 1984-85(?).  The fans were awesome back then - student section was called the Corner Crew and they taught me most of the swear words and a few other concepts I didn't understand at the time.

The RIT Frozen Four was incredible. They basically formed an alliance with the fans from Boston College and just tore Miami apart. Even when they were getting crushed by Wisconsin, the RIT fans were having a blast. That should be a great game.

I wish we could do some home-and-homes with bigger names so we could get to see a NoDak, BC, BU, Maine, Denver, etc at Yost. I feel like ever since we played BU like 3-4 seasons ago at Yost, the non-con schedule at Yost has been awful.

I can't be the only non-Michigan attending RIT alum who loves Michigan on this site, right?

Well, either way, I never expected this to be a conflict of interest, even in 2010 when RIT was on fire but finally I get to see UM and RIT head to head!

RIT will probably get trounced but this is such a great win just to get UM on the schedule, especially when we were DIII just about 6 years ago.

Fun times for the Tigers!
