but we're getting pretty darn close

FSU slashing, U-M gets the first PP.
D'oh, FSU PP.
Phew! PK does its job. FSU is 25.6% on the PP, 5th in nation, so
STAY OUT OF THE DAMN BOX!
1 PP each, M 8 shots to 5.
Damn, Serville to the box again.
Woo, Wolverines full strength!
ARGH, diGiuseppe for tripping!
Shit, they score. 1-0 them.
I just don't get it.
This team is lacking something that teams in the past have had, autocratic leadership. We don't have a Matt Rust, or Chris Brown, or a Carl Hagelin to right the ship when something goes wrong.
FSU slashing, c'mon M PP!
Sigh, no joy.
Does it seem to anyone else like the more hype we get before a hockey season, the worse we do?
Dammit, crosschecking on Nieves.
2-0, another PP goal for them
ARE YOU SHITTING ME?!?!
They score, another 3-goal deficit for us.
Unacceptable. Where is the defense? Where is the leadership? Where is the pride?
Somewhere in Yost?
Serville with the hat trick - of penalties. PP them.
Edit: According to live stats, it was Clare; Al said Serville. FSU did get called for slashing at the end of the period.
Serville has yet to show me ANYTHING. He gets stupid penalties, gives up big plays and usually gets destroyed once a game. I don't know what the winnipeg jets saw in him because I have yet to see him do much.
I support him just like every player, but come on. 3 penalties in one game is ridiculous.
I edited my post above: maybe it wasn't Serville the last time.
With our expectations coming into this season? Coming into this season us fans and the polls all predicted as a possible national championship team.
Not sure why, other than we're Michigan so always in the top five preseason. Unproven goalie, not a ton of proven offensive weapons, and what should have been a really good defense that lost its best member in the preseason.
3-on-3, then 4-on-4, then no joy on our 40s PP.
Don't insult Vic Heyliger's 1940s teams like that.
Ha, but s = sec
let's make this a drinking thread. I am at b dubs ypsi waiting for trivia to start. I have a pint of Miller until happy hour starts.
Hoping for overtime because that is the only thing that could make this game better?
4-0??!!?! Audio cut out on me.
Well, last season Michigan started their epic comeback the same night as the B1G Championship. They lost a disaster on the road to alaska the night before.
If Michigan doesn't pull out a win tomorrow, might as well kiss the tournament streak goodbye since the back half of the schedule is about 90% road games.
Elbowing on us. F U refs.
No NHL and Michigan is sucking. This is just the wretched year for hockey.
This winter will be long. Personally I can stand watching the NBA, lets go MBB.
M PP. Can we at least get on the board tonight?
Guh. SH goal, 5-0 them. FML.
Yay, it's over. 5-0 loss.
Must win tomorrow.
I kinda wish tomorrow's b-ball game were after the hockey game, because I'm feeling all DOOM right now.
Wow, this is by far the worst Michigan hockey team in a generation... what is the problem? There is talent, at least recruiting wise compared to some of the other teams we play. Is Berenson's intensity and effort shot? Did we just completely whiff on the recruits we received? I do understsand the goalkeeping problems.
Somebody needs to stand up and do something about this. Get in somebody's face, fire them up. Once something isn't going right, isn't of making it right, they lose all the fight in them. I'm tired of losing.
I'd say it's time for Treais, Bennett, K. Lynch & Moffie to show leadership, and that they merit their captaincies.
Bill Trainor talked last week about how great of a captain Matt Hurr was because he kept his team together, and he wasn't afraid to get in somebody's face when they messed up.
Look back to previous rosters and it's not a surprise that we haven't had this problem before. Our core is young, they aren't ready to lead like that. If the seniors don't step up we will continue to slide.
Here's to hoping for an amazing run in the CCHA tourney like in 2010.
So I guess this is the year we finally start questioning what the hell is going on without the usual "Red has earned a pass!" argument.
"Finally?" Because a team that hasn't missed a tournament in the lifespan of its players, came inches from a title 18 months ago, and had ultra-flukey losses in the tourney 2 out of 3 years has been awful?
It sounds like there are serious locker room issues, given Guptill's absence due to work ethic this week and some pretty serious on-ice meltdowns. It's panic time, but that doesn't mean this hangs on Red. Every college hockey program has had some pretty rough years, maybe it's finally our turn.
thank you. even Jerry York at BC has missed the playoffs a few times during our steak. nobody is questioning his handling of the program. anytime someone questions Red I usually tune them out.
Merril is the key to this team. Losing merrill has completely screwed our d pairings. the new pairings are not gelling at all.
Mel Pearson is no longer on the staff, that's what's going on.
We just rake in the talent in hockey. Most other CCHA schools would love to get even 1 guy at the skill level of anyone from our normal recruiting classes
Trouba - 1st
PDG - 2nd
Nieves - 2nd
K Lynch - 2nd
Merill - 2nd (obviously absent)
Guptill - 3rd
Serville - 3rd
Bennett - 3rd
Hyman - 5th
Moffie - 6th
Moffatt - 7th
And even undrafted guys like Clare, Copp, Treais and Rutledge played for the USNTDP
So talent is clearly not the flippin problem.
On the other hand, Ferris State appears to have 0 draft picks on their roster. ZERO. I'm sure RIT has zero and State probably has <5 right now and yet each of those teams just humiliated this team in one way or another. This is the equivalent of basically Alabama's roster losing to Ole Miss, then Kentucky, and then getting curb stomped by Tulane.
Something seems terribly wrong. Either the team chemistry is awful or the coaching really is suffering with Pearson's absence or the team has just given up. I don't know but I've never seen a Michigan team suck so bad for half a season
