Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Some big Michgan Hockey news has been released. The Blue-White scrimmage that traditionally took place every year before 2009 been revived. It will be played at 5pm on Friday, October 7 at Yost.

Also, the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins and former captain Luke Glendening will play the Lake Erie Monsters at 7pm that same night.

Honestly, didn't know that it had been discontinued...but, as a former Club player that skated in two of these, defintely happy that it is back.  A once (or twice) in a lifetime experience to utilize the varsity facilities and play in front of a real Yost crowd w/ the band.

Can't say I'm really a fan of them voluntarily making the Michigan hockey team the undercard in their own building for what should primarily be their event, especially if that entails them playing at 5pm on a work day.

Also, in the past they never left enough time for kids to get autographs/pictures. I'm sure everybody could get to meet the entire team in maybe 40 minutes (not an unreasonable amount of time), but the few times I've taken my cousins they were shuffling people off the ice after 15-20 minutes. They only have a 30 minute window blocked off for it, and I'm sure in practice people will effectively only get the usual 15-20 minutes. But I guess if they had discontinued it, it's better than nothing.
