M gets votes in AP poll
Doesn't matter much, but i bet the team is happy to get some recognition.

They got votes in the preseason poll too.
EDIT: I guess only the Corches Poll.

Who are the Corches and why do they have their own poll?

Corche from Tummytuck, Louisiana.
Everybody (and their brother) has their own CFB ranking, see http://www.mratings.com/cf/compare.htm

Because they win 2 BSBCS National Titles in the last 3 years. Go Gaita.

We went from 0 to 18 points. Not a big picture kind of thing, but at least some people noticed.
September 8th, 2009 at 12:36 PM ^
but i could care less about the polls untill at least after the non-conference schedule.

and I apologize to you and the rest of the board in advance; you happened to hit a pet peeve.
September 8th, 2009 at 1:27 PM ^
to give you a +1...one of my pet peeves, as well.
September 8th, 2009 at 1:57 PM ^
That is all.

Thank you. I have always heard people say they could care less and I'm like, alright, then it's not that bad.

considering where we were last season ... im thrilled to be at #36 right now ... and fully expect us to crack the top 25 after we beat the irish

Wow. BYU is up to #9 after beating a Bradford-less OU team at the end of the game? I think that is being a bit too generous. Looks like we are setting up for some more BCS controversy at the end of the year with BYU, Boise St, TCU, and Utah all in the top 20.
September 8th, 2009 at 1:10 PM ^
I was surprised to see BYU go from #20 to #9, and Boise St only went from #14 to #12. I know that Oregon looked really bad, but to beat a ranked opponent and only go up 2 spots?
September 8th, 2009 at 2:11 PM ^
It was 7-7 when Bradford left the game.

I'm feeling deja vu from the basketball season with this post. Where is JamieMac analyzing the teams ranked ahead of us?!?
September 8th, 2009 at 1:02 PM ^
If I am reading that correctly, 18 of the 65 sportswriters and broadcaster put M in the Top 25. That's almost 30%. I have to say I am happily surprised it was that many.
September 8th, 2009 at 1:06 PM ^
points are based on position, so if M was slotted in at 23 or 24 by some writers that is worth more than 1 point.

is the recruiting help. Not only did we look good (against the WAC), and are getting points in the AP poll, but everything that Tate says will be drawing recruits to the big house. I'm a techno-idiot, so paraphrasing instead of links:
- It was unbelieveable running out of the tunnel.
- I had tears in my eyes realizing how important football was to these fans.
- and so-on.
I'm guessing he realizes he will be there for 3 more years, so everytime he gets a media forum he talks about how amazing The Big House, the team, the program, how he loves the competition, etc.... The more recruits see this, the more help he gets over the next 3 years.
My first post on MGoBlog after reading for 2 years, so sorry if its in the wrong location.

I really don't want Michigan to be ranked until after the MSU game. I'd rather have them beat ND, hover just outside the polls, then earn their way in once the tossup conference games start. Stay hungry...
