M Field Hockey Heads to NCAA Semifinals With Win Over NW

Submitted by tlo2485 on

#3 Michigan beat #10 Northwestern for the third time this season to advance to the NCAA Semifinals. Emma Way had her second hat-trick of the season in the 3-0 victory. The Wolverines will have a rematch vs. #9 Maryland, who they beat in OT earlier this season. The Terps upset #2 Duke. The other half pits #1 UConn vs. #4 UNC. Michigan defeated then #1 UNC back in the season opener and lost narrowly to now #1 (then #4) UConn 2-1 in week 2.

Michigan is now 21-2, with 16 of the victories coming via shutout. Hopefully we can add some big hardware next weekend where the final four is hosted at Louisville.

Michigan Arrogance

I don't think this team has lost since 9/10 or so. They are a machine and when I was at the Standford game for the 1st half, I was shocked at how dominant they were agains a top 20 team. Teams that can possess the ball can really dominate in this sport.
