Nice to see our future Wolverines doing well in the Czech Republic. Especially nice seeing promising play out of Rutledge in his first start in net.

"Jared Rutledge (Chicago, Ill.) made 17 saves to earn the shutout and [2013] J.T. Compher(Northbrook, Ill./0-2) and Mathew Lane (Rochester, N.Y./1-1) each recorded two points, as the U.S. Men’s National Under-18 Team bested Denmark, 4-0, here tonight at Kajot Arena in its third game at the 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s World Under-18 Championship. With the victory, Team USA improved to 3-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) and is yet to surrender a goal in the tournament."

Jacob Trouba and Connor Carrick each had an assist on the night as well.

So we have a future goalie? Thats a relief. Havent really paid attention to hockey recruiting. Hopefully this goalie is the real deal. When does he step foot on campus?

Rutledge is the presumed starter for next season but there should be a 3 way battle between Jared, our back-up last year Adam Janecyk*, and the other 2012 goalie commit, Steve Racine. Both Racine and Rutledge need time to develop in analysts eyes but it wouldn't totally shock me if either started.

* Janecyk appeared in 5 games last year, started only 1. GAA was 3.17 and save percentage was 0.897

For a really informative read on the future icers take a look at CenterIce's diary he did a few weeks back, link below, he mentions more in depth some of the things I just touched on.

I wish I knew how we did in recruiting as compared to other schools. I know some schools have more draft picks, but we always have several come over from the U18's. Wish I knew how others schools compared
