M baseball defeats Loyola Marymount, 14-2
Michigan won its 5th straight game, raising their record to 7-2 this evening in Los Angeles with a win over Loyola Marymount. Michigan jumped out to a big lead in the top of the first inning, scoring 7 runs on 5 hits, 2 errors, a walk and a hit batter.
Catcher Harrison Wenson made it 9-1 in the top of the second with his third home run in the last 3 games. Erik Bakich pulled starting pitcher William Tribucher after the third inning, going deep into the bullpen to keep his top pitchers rested heading into the Dodgertown Classic this weekend.
A total of 21 players saw action for Michigan, including career debuts for pitchers Benjamin Keizer and Jack Weisenburger. Second baseman Ako Thomas and shortstop Matt Brdar were both 3 for 4. Wenson led the team with 4 RBIs.
The softball team, in town for the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton starting tomorrow, was at the game today. The baseball team's next game is at UCLA's Jackie Robinson Stadium at 6:00 PST on Friday evening.
This offense is special.
There are plenty of men on the bases due to a high number of walks. Team is also 26-27 on steal attempts. Need to get Jake Bivens untracked at the plate and figure out the bullpen roles.
We're gonna learn a lot this weekend. I don't care if they're ranked or not, at UCLA and at USC back to back is a really tough test.
Then on Sunday we play San Diego at Dodger Stadium.
I truly hope Harrison Wenson is in, or is planning on attending Law School. That name could only be topped if he is Harrison Wenson III.
