M Baseball and Softball getting new turf put in

Submitted by nmumike on

Mr. Wilpon is helping out the softball and baseball teams once again. New turf to be put in and the thinking here is that this new turf will allow the teams to play more throughout the year.

Story: The benefits of being able to get outside and practice baseball in snow and after a rain storm are outstanding," Bakich said. "To be able to plow a turf field when there's snow on the ground everywhere else and to be able to practice if the weather is all right outside, and to have a torrential downpour and then be able to be playing 15 minutes later because the drainage system is so well done, for us in the Midwest it's an absolute no-brainer.

I would hate to play on turf, but it almost seems this is what the northern schools have to do. I played at Cincinnati and Louisville on turf and it sucks.
