Lyons Transfer in the Works

Per Chris Balas, the Wayne Lyons transfer to Michigan is in the works, which was widely assumed with his Mother taking a staff position.

Nice. Lyons will have a roll in the secondary for sure. Hopefully a late addition of Roquan Smith is also in the works.

I am rather liking the idea of not just getting transfers, but strategic ones at that to bolster certain position groups. Actually, when is the last time we took on two transfers TO Michigan in the span of a couple weeks? I would have to think it has been a while, and it isn't a bad trend at all if you've got both the need and the sport available, I would say.

If Lyons does come aboard, which player currently on the roster doesn't get their scholarship next year?

Actually, the question should more likely be who do you think will transfer or who will received a medical scholarship because of a career ending injury.

Any guesses?

This will probably earn you DVs. Most likely their will be attrition before the season - Hoke had hinted at "a couple" medicals/transfers from the OL logjam late last year. I don't know the exact timing rules on this - but IF we get to an over 85 level before the attrition occurs one of the 3 WOs that are assumed school lies will lose theirs until the attrition happens. Heck Brian is already guessing at a class over 20 next year with expected attrition (5-6 by my math)

I think a lot of positions are gonna be totally up for grabs given the new staff's change in preference/focus and the potential for different players taking to the new coaching style differently. That said, I think Lewis is a lock as you said. Pretty much the rest of the defense though could be very different.
