Lynn Henning recklessly claims Rich will be fired Monday

Submitted by M-Wolverine on
Apparently heading to MSU's press conference up he did a 20 minute interview with Tim Staudt on air over WVFN radio. They started off talking about his front page article in the Det News Today about his interview and he said Rich Rod would be fired Monday.

This is horrible even before the results of the OSU game come in. What if we win? What then? If he's wrong, he should be the one fired on Monday.

...Pres. Coleman said in the recent NCAA press conference that she will leave the decisions up to Dave Brandon. If anything, she will sign off on whatever decision he makes.

Was this before or after he said that new found movement on Nate Robertson's breaking ball would have back in the Tiger rotation on opening day?

If it wasn't so sad, it would be really funny how the instate media are scrambling to "scoop" each other on the "RR fired" story.  Henning isn't taking much of a risk here, though; most readers consider him to be a buffoon when it comes to college football, anyway.

Maybe this is a ploy by Henning to damage his own credibility for college football so badly that they won't make him write about it anymore.  Everyone who has ever read him over a period of time knows his heart and soul are with baseball, and that he is pretty talented in that medium.

I guess Henning hasn't figured out that he doesn't have any college football credibility to damage.

What a total douche bag!  Yeah, I'm really sure that DB gave him inside information.  Even if DB has decided this, you can bet the farm that he hasn't told anyone about it.  IMO DB would have to be an idiot to fire RR right now, we need to see this through.  Just another Detroit rag that needs to be flushed down the toilet.  Sheesh!  Now, let's go wreck some Buckeyes :)

doubt this true.1,we are going to a bowl game.2,DB seems like a smart guy.3,It would only set us back 3 more years, wheather it's harbaugh or who ever!!!Why do i say that well because we would have to get a whole new roster which take's time,2 to 3 years.Unless it's a spread coach, which right know we have one of the best spread coaches in the nation.SO AS A MICHIGAN FAN I SAY KEEP COACH ROD,UNLESS YOU WANT THIS TO HAPPEN AGAIN.GO BLUE!!!

I've read this blog for years and never signed up, but my best friend lives in Louisiana and he heard on a sports radio talk show that there are rumors RR's agent is in talks with an SEC team and is ready to move on. Obvuiously a rumor, but maybe it ties in with our rumor and POSSIBLY Rich Rod is quitting and Brandon made a split second decision to replace him with Harbaugh? Thoughts?

I dont see why you think I'm a troll.

I'm adding to the conversation, stating things that I've heard (and clearly stated that they were rumors, which is what this whole thread is about)

People here aren't thinking outside the box, everyone assumes this means RR would be getting fired, but what if he's quitting? It would make sense in my mind with everything he's been through. I'm not saying I agree with it, but it would totally make sense to me.

For answers regarding why people believe you to be a troll, and not "adding to the conversation," see the collective comments of those who have been members longer than 45 minutes.

The bottom line: Walking, quacking, swimming, pecking at garbage - it's a duck.

Besides, if you've paid any attention, RR is not Kiffin, Petrino, etc., despite the vitriole accusing him of their kinds of hi-jinks.

Never mind - these rumors are not worthy of all this attention.

What a waste.

One, this is a troll.

Two, this is the stupidest, most idiotic thing ever. I mean, think about it. At UM he has perhaps the most dynamic, electric player to ever play QB in his system. He has another, waiting in the wings, who is supposed to be an even better pass threat than Denard. His offense is one of the most explosive we've seen at UM, in a while, and all that with their youth shooting themselves in the foot several times in every game. He is coaching a team for a University that has more history on the field than most other conferences do combined. Why in the world would he EVER quit UM?

You're an idiot.

Why would he leave UM?

People were asking the same thing about WV. It was his alma mater, at the time he was in contention for a national title. He was losing Pat White, but he was replaceable. In his system, he'll always have an athlete at QB running wild.

I love UM, but I seem to remember the last time we had a coaching search, people weren't lining up at the door based on our history. It's a great attribute, and a great sell. I think Rich saw it as a chance to compete at the elite level. But in case you haven't watched the news, every other day theres something new about how horrible Michigan is and how horrible RR is. All I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised to see him quit. Can you imagine being in his shoes watching the or hearing about the news? I can imagine his family hears about it quite a bit too. Maybe he needs a new begining.

Usually when you start off your post calling someone an idiot, you've lost credibility.

IMO, RR has just as many supporters as he has detractors, and given the current crop of sports journalists he deals with most of the time, my guess is that he doesn't care what they think.

This year's team is one of two different sides. The defense, which has been poor, and the offense, which is arguably one of the best in cfb, with most of the starters returning. He never had this good of an offense at WVU, from a stats point of view, and these guys we've been rooting for this year will only get better next year.

Now, on your side, you mentioned one thing that would make me think he could possibly leave, and that is how his family is feeling about the negativity towards him by certain camps.

Not to question your motives, but when someone signs up about 30 minutes ago to post something incredibly speculative and amorphous ("I know a guy who heard somewhere..."), the Troll Alert is on double-red status.

Oh, good. More unfounded rumors to get all the crazies (and the rest of us on this board) whipped up into a maize and blue frenzy. I'll get the popcorn.

The David Brandon article with Henning in today's News was undeniably telling in one aspect:

As definitive as Brandon was about the future prospects of Coach Beilein, he was way less so regarding Coach Rodriguez.   The talk of  the future of the football coach seems to bring the "one of 27 sports" answer, while here Beilein got basically a verbal long-term committment.

Considering their levels of success at Michigan have both been pretty low, that might say something about where this is headed.

Maybe Henning left some of Brandon's more positive comments about Rich on the cutting room floor per the MSM agenda?

Ohio State is always many things to this program. It isn't a stretch to say that it is a very meaningful opportunity for Rich  to show progress, rather than sideways movement.  I sure hope he takes advantage of it.

I saw Mrs. RR at the hockey game with the little ones.  Lets face it, if RR was history, would she feel comfortable going to Yost?  I think not.  This is the first time since his first few months in A^2, that I have seen any of them at Yost.

From this, i will surmise that Henning is pulling something out of his nether region again.

The rumor coming from inside the athletic department, is Jim Harbaugh told DB that he has to be hired this year. Jim said he will stay here for life and never leave but it has to be this year or he is headed to the NFL.

I heard this from family that work in the athletic department, they told me to take it with a grain of salt becaause DB would never let this out, so it is just a rumor. However if i is true I don't like Jim backing us into a corner, and I support RR I think we are on the brink of somthing special.

Music to my ears. Hopefully David Brandon won't be offended  by a guy as good a coach as Harbaugh, a guy with unlimited options, wanting to come here and stay here for life and build a champion.  How dare Harbaugh?! The heartless barbarian.

Let's get a deal done and thank Rich Rodriguez for his service with a monster buy-out check. Jim Harbaugh is a better football coach and would be a better fit to lead Michigan.  Stanford's year is over until the first of the year, and there is recruiting to be completed here.

What Henning is saying might be baseless. I listened to the podcast of the interview and he admits he might be wrong and that he has no special information.

Man there is a lot in the air though.
