LSU offers Laquon Treadwell [edit: now going to visit LSU]
All over twitter... from allen treiu:
Laquon Treadwell: "With this LSU offer it might shake up my recuriting just a little bit, who knows?"
source: https://twitter.com/AllenTrieu/status/228600199784853505
Think this drags out his recruitment even longer? He seems really excited about this offer.
Confirmation of visit:
Inpatient fans aren't going anywhere for a while.
I'd check the fine print on their HMOs before making such a bold statement.
I'd be excited to get an LSU offer too. Seems like they are a little late to the party, he's visited Michigan how many times already? You never know but I just don't see LSU pulling him at this point.
Not sure where the Devon Allen optimism is coming from.
He is visiting on his own dime. Anything can happen when you get a kid on campus.
All that really means is that he has a lot of dime. He has visited a ton of schools and will continue to do so. He has us in his top group, but it's like a top-25.
That fake commitment post today jinxed us.......
It's going to be a long time before he gets a chance to jinx anybody else on mgoblog. At least under that account.
You mean a negative one billion (ish) is less than +100?
In one physical model of the universe, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line... in the opposite direction.
Shane needs to work his magic at the Gridiron Kings this weekend...This is getting outta control!
With Gunner Kiel as the future at QB, oh, wait. Nevermind.
Where does this sound like he's excited about visiting? Yes sir is not enough. The shake up his recruitment thing is probably bc he just got the offer. I still am cautiously optimistic but with a slight downgrade.
Read his twitter feed...LSU fans are showing him tons of love, and he's reciprocating.
Yea. He shouldn't be nice back. He should probably just tell them all off.
Should we worry about Mark Dantonio, bonafide snake oil salesman?
This reminds me of the thread not too long ago where someone said that they felt LT wasn't coming to Michigan because he had plenty of time to commit and has not. He said he felt that there was a disconnect on Treadwell's side, and that Michigan might not be the right fit for LT. Everyone, of course, negged him because it was an unpopular opinion and MGoBlog doesn't do dissenting opinions, but I cannot say that whoever it was looks like they were wrong...
This recruitment reminds me a lot of Diamond, who was considered a lock to UM for how long?
Allen is here on his own dime, so it gives me some optimism. We shall see.
Diamond was only considered a Michigan "lock" by people who didn't know very much. People "in the know" had their doubts. I guess we know which side of the fence you fell on...
strongly encouraged people to feel like Michigan had a strong lead. His quotes did not.
I encourage fans to listen to the kids instead of "insiders."
The insiders sometimes exaggerate things and when people run with that, expectations get out of whack. Then you have people calling teenagers attention hogs or indecisive or whatever else. And maybe they are, but it seems inappropriate for grown men to call them out on it without knowing them.
Feels more like Ty Isaac to me... Michigan lock. No way his visit to USC will amount to anything. Uh.
Most of the pro-Michigan talk came from pro-Michigan people, who fueled unwarranted optimism in Michigan fans. Meanwhile, national recruitniks were more neutral, as were the recruit's public statements.
Generally speaking, take what these local insiders are saying with a grain of salt. Some are very ready to give 'good news' based on the thinest of evidence. Certainly don't assume a guy is coming to Michigan unless he says it himself.
Isaac was never a lock, either. Some people need to figure out what that term means.
How would you define a lock then? No snark, just curiousity.
*cuz knowledge is power!
Actually committing to Michigan....
"inconceivable!"
This. Maybe this kid just really likes the recruiting process. Maybe he comes to Michigan, maybe he doesn't. Maybe he needs more time to think about whether or not Michigan is the right place for him. Maybe he doesn't. Maybe other commits fill up the class before this kid commits. OOOH, maybe he commits and then DE-commits! Maybe then, after DE-committing, he commits AGAIN, only to realize that he wants to join the peace corps.
Maybe then he comes back in 2 years and joins a secluded monastary somewhere near Lake Tahoe.
Man...that would suck for us.
Can't wait for Team 133 to hit the field on September 1st.
You shut your filthy yapper!
The Diamond is strong with this one.
If you were 80% sold on a school and knew there spots were filling up really fast and also knew you would not be attending that said schools biggest function in the upcoming weekend knowing damn well there is 2 spots open and that said school has a player visiting that plays the same position as you, you would think the player knows timing is an issue as you have been screwing around for months now.
This tells me he is like the guy always looking for the next hottest girl to appear. I hope I am wrong bug if he doesn't commit by Monday don't count on it IMO, as they say in the hood "He Gone"
Too bad
We will win with him, we will win without him. LT hardly makes or breaks this class.
We will have four very good young receivers in 2013 and Shane Morris. If he wants to go to the SEC and play in that boring offense, he can have at it. I think he stays blue unless Allen pulls the trigger and Hoke decides to send a message.
Pleasant novocaine numbness.
Twitter may be the reason why following recruiting may die some day.
The saga continues...
I no longer find comfort in TomVH insisting this is nothing like Jordan Diamond's recruitment.
I subscribe to ESPN Insider and the factis there is no news there coming from Tom
Michigan is going to win championships with or without Treadwell. The team! The team! The team! Seems to me there are 23 guys already that feel the same.
HOLY FUCK! Treadwell got another offer! And he likes it!
Time to write him off again, he's obviously Jordan Diamond. Until he names us his leader again. Then he's cool.
Whatever happens well happen. Let's see how he handles the trip and then we'll see how it plays out. Trying to guess now is just going to piss everyone off.
I obviously dont know whats in Treadwell's head... but sometimes it seems like when players have a 'leader' for months and months on end without committing, it feels like they are just looking for reasons not to commit to that school...
Who knows?
His recruitment is just like the latest season of, "The Bachlorette"! Poor Arie...
See what happens when you live with your girlfriend, kids?
brb going to lsu and watching as my quarterback spends half his career on the ground and throwing into the stands. Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee didn't exactly take command in the championship game.
He wass alreadyy planningg to take visits before commiting. And he wasn't planning to commit before that. The only thing that has changed is one more visit. People sound so damn insecure. Following the minutia of something that won't be decided for months makes people read far too much into things. If Michigan is right for him he'll commit and that's great. If Michigan isn't right he won't and Michigan will be OK. People need to stop trying to force their timeline on him. "if he doesn't commit by Monday he's gone", well as far as everything he's said goes he won't be commiting by Monday but he also said he has a spot held for him and Michigan is his leader so the Monday timeline is grabbed out of thin air. The evidence doesn't support the diagnosis.
agreed. Oh what's that? a kid doesn't want to commit before his senior season? Gosh. Lay off. give the kid a break.
I didn't choose a college until midway through my senior year. I think I'll give him a little more time.
dat double post
Treadwell, apparently, has a lock on a slot at an elite program. So he is free to flirt with every top offer that comes his way.
Now, think about his situation for a moment. Imagine you are a 17-18 year old, who is free to be pursued by every "southern" and west coast program in the NCAA. Wouldn't you enjoy that opportunity?
Maybe we've lost him. Maybe he's just taking advantage of a once in a lifetime opportunity. The attention must be close to overwhelming.
I ASSume that the coaches have covered their bets. Chill folks, this will playout and eventually we'll know.
