Louie Injury Update

Submitted by JustGoBlue on

According to Mike Spath on Yost Post, Louie skated a bit today and both Carl and Billy Powers said Louie is expected to be back for the CCHA semi-finals!

GREAT news, obviously, pretty much the best case scenario.  We can get through BGSU without him, Western would probably be trickier, but we could manage, beating Notre Dame, or especially Miami is going to be difficult with him, much less without him, so hopefully he'll decide that during the last 6 games of his season, he has to better the 20-goal plateau for teh season again and score 2 or 3 per game.

Sidenote 1:  MGoBlue has videos up promoting Carl and Hunwick for... All-American...   I'm not sure how I feel about that. Has it really come to that, for Michigan?  Meanwhile, Miami has videos promoting two player for Hobey.

Sidenote 2:  Speaking of Miami, they have never won the Mason Cup.  And they have a quite large, very, very good, senior class that probably wants to.  Which is another good reason for Notre Dame (or Alaska) to beat them before we have to play them.  I really do not want to face a motivated Miami team...

Ya I've got to be honest, assuming we make the Joe in two weeks, I would almost vote to keep Louie on the bench unless he is 100%.

Louie is a hug part of our team, and I don't want to take away from that.

But we can beat Western/Ferris without him.

He would definitely be a big lift in the finals against Miami/ND (most likely).

But if the knee is not ready, it will be much more beneficial to have him ready to go in the NCAAs.

Plus, as much as I want to win the CCHA tourney, I'm not sure it will make a huge difference with our seed as long as we make the finals.

Then again, there is a big difference between a #1 and #2 seed in the big dance.

Bottom line, lets just hope Louie is really ready to go when he hits the ice.

I trust Red to ensure that happens.
