Lots of new "Michigan to Nike" rumors on Twitter today
Yeah, and what else is new, right? Well, actually, there was virtually no discussion of this topic on Twitter yesterday. Today, there is a sudden explosion of Tweets referencing "rumors" that Michigan is switching to Nike. I attempted to track down the source of the rumors, and they appear to be originating from this Tweet:
Michigan is about to be so swaggy #swoosh
— Megan (@meganprusi) June 10, 2015
As most of you know, Hacket confirmed last week that the search for Michigan's next apparel provider has been code-named "Project Swag," and #swoosh is obviously a reference to Nike.
This woman identifies herself as a University of Michigan alum on her Twitter account, and according to her LinkedIn profile...
https://www.linkedin.com/pub/megan-prusi/75/969/937
...she works for the University if Michigan at Kidsport...
http://www.kines.umich.edu/umove/kidsport
...which is part of the Kinesiology Department, but also seems to be affiliated with the Michigan Athletic Department...
https://www.umich.edu/athletics/
So either: (1) this is someone in a position to be among the first to hear the news that Michigan has switched apparel providers once that information starts trickling down to others in the Athletic Department, or (2) I just cyber-stalked this young woman for no good reason because I'm overly eager to find out which apparel provider we're going with.
You decide.
I totally agree.
I have a DVD that really truely tells what Canham did. He was basically the first AD to market a college football program as it if was ''professional''. He put the block M on everything imaginable and sold it.
Give this part of it a watch. He also knew that if he treated fans with respect they would come back year after year. He knew he could be making more from ticket prices, but he once said "Just because you can doesn't mean you should". Literally the anti-Brandon.
It's plausible. Why wouldn't Nike want to attach it's name and logo to one of the most recognizable, respected and successful football coaches on the planet and sell it's gear to one the largest, most loyal and "spendy" alumni bases on the planet. Hacket understands this and Nike probably understands this.
about double the guaranteed money they pay schools like Alabama and OSU. I think that's about what it would take to give us the biggest contract over Notre Dame. It would cost them a lot of money when other contracts come up for renewal. Adidas has been willing to pay to make us their flagship school. With Nike's dominant standing, they have no need to do so. That being said, I wouldn't rule out some creative arrangement that might allow us to make that claim.
Harbaugh was wearing this nike shirt at one of the satellite camps
source: http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2015/06/jim_harbaugh_doesnt_know_pau…
He took the Nike shirt off and went shirtless. Omg shirtless! Does that mean it is or isn't Nike?
the shirt says prattville on it. Im sure if that were done by michigan it would be some sort of violation, so i am going with that was given to him just like every camp he goes to he wears two hats. A michigan one and then one from the school they are at on top of it. Hes just making sure he doesnt offend anyone and making sure he leaves everyone liking him minus the college coaches whos toes he is stepping on
What does the MGoBlog seer divine today, oh wise one?
I must learn to go to better sources for these things. You would think I would learn for as long as I've been here but keep consulting the thing on my desk, and....well....
this is more appropriate logo for some members on here.
Definitely point #2. Maybeee point #1
Oh no it's not, it's science. When we were Nike we were good. When we switched, we were bad.
Who are we to argure with science?

MGOFish just tweeted that Nike and NBA have a deal. So if Nike is willing to throw some $$$, it might be realistic they went above what Adidas was offering us. However, maybe not because they wanted the NBA contract.
Adidas lost the NBA and NFL to Nike in a span of 3 years?
Yikes...
Then again Adidas did sign Juventus and ManU away from Nike...
Adidas owns Reebok...
They are the ones who supplied the NFL with their gear. Also, according to this Reebok started supplyng the NFL before they became a subsidary of Adidas.(2002)
Also, note how Nike outbid Under Armour last year for (I think it was) Kevin Durant. I recall the numbers were like UA offering a cool quarter-million over 10 years or somethng, then Nike came in and topped it (which was very unlike them) with $300 million.
Not sure what I asked and what it is I am receiving???

No, gord, I don't want to "interact" with you on Chatroulette.com.
and yet people here honestly believe that Michigan coeds aren't good looking. Don't believe everything that rival fans spoonfeed you.
Uh... I didn't go that far; I went to Michigan and my flag is still firmly planted in the MSU girls > Michigan girls camp. Not to mention they are GIVERS up in East Lansing.
Now go ahead, neg away...
Sorry man. We gotta defend our classmates' honor.

Please tell me that's not true.
Project Swag, actually.
"The apparel process is similar, as Michigan weighs options from Nike, Under Armour and adidas, with which the athletic department has been associated since 2007. Hackett is calling this undertaking "Project Swag.""
SWAG= Stuff We All Get. At least that's what makes it acceptable in my mind
I was really hoping they would go back to the glory days when mens warehouse with the apparel company.
