Losses like this happen every year

Submitted by Supa Hot Fire on

Tonight was disappointing. We lacked effort, and the missed shots never stopped. It didn’t help that Nebraska shot over 50% either. But guess what… all is not lost.

Remember, this means nothing. March is what matters.

Additionally, there is a good team somewhere in there. We saw it against Purdue and MSU. It just wasn’t there tonight.

Many John Beilein teams that have done anything in March all have had games like this where we wonder what is happening, yet at the end of the year, play like a top 10 team and perform when it matters. It would’ve been nice to win the Big 10, but at the end of the day, the team should still make the tournament and then none of it matters.

Again, these types of games seem to be the norm with Beilein teams, but things always get better.

One more positive: At least the next game is against Rutgers!

We are terrible. Belein cannot coach. Our recruiting class all just got worse. Mo Wagner needs to be shot. Jim Harbaugh is paid too much. This is UNACCEPTABUL!!!#*÷&÷ C No, YOU'RE YELLING! I'm the rational one here. You guys are all just fan boys! Did I miss anything? Looking for concern trolling tips

layups. I have never seen a college basketball team this bad at layups. The next practice Beilein should focus exclusively on layups. More specifically, how not to miss layups.

The team that made it to the national championship started the year 17-0 and was ranked 1st place in the AP poll. So no, not every team that makes a March run started off poorly. I’m not worried about this loss. The team was gassed and it showed tonight. Get some rest, play your backups a lot of minutes against Rutgers and rest up for @Purdue.

Not sure why that's so shocking. We had no energy. It was our third game in five days. We had to make our longest road trip. Against a team that's pretty darn tough at home. It doesn't take much for a loss to snowball into a blowout. It was the perfect storm for it to happen to us tonight.

Every NBA fan can look at the schedule before the season and pencil in 6-7 probable schedule losses. Home-road back to back? Probable loss. 3rd game in 4 nights? Probable loss. That's what this was.

UM didn't front rim a huge percentage of their threes, give up driving lanes, and constantly get their open driving lanes cut off because they lost their touch or forgot fundamentals. They didn't have their legs, and that's because they had a road-home-road stretch over 6 days that basically hasn't been scheduled in the past.

And this is nothing equivalent to the tournament, which doesn't involve travel, doesn't involve a third game, and has both teams facing the same conditions.

Losing happens every year, sure.  Losing by 20 to a team with 7 losses?  I don't accept that.

Where's the guy who said we should name the hardwood after Beilein?  What a bonehead.

Nebraska had this game circled on their calendar for the past year, and were fired up, while we were tired and flat. Their best game of the year vs our worst.

Oh well, rest up and move on.

They played well and with a lot of energy. We just couldn't do anything on offense, aside from Matthews. Don't think this game is representative of much other than that we aren't a B10 title caliber team and Wagner prefers big slow men rather than someone like Roby.

gpsimms not to…

I don't. For all the usual "lacked heart!" nonsense I see around here, I see a tough matchup with a team that plays 5 out, has decent athleticism, and can switch all screens and Wagner can't take advantage when switched onto a small, and can't beat their 5 off the dribble. I'd rather not see Nebraska again this year.

Unless we get B+/A- PG play or find a way to work around it we will have to wait until next year to see the sweet 16. Really missing an alpha PG like Walton this season.
