I missed something, If we give out the #2 then #1 has to be given out also ? if so maybe Funchess id hope because i want #1 to be earned not given before a player plays..Maybe the legend #87 will be someone else..maybe Jake..SPECULATION EVERYWHERE !!!

I highly, highly doubt anyone has been given the #1. Yet.

And lets not forget, Peppers is a special case; being given the #2 may be the one thing he doesn't have to earn on this team. If that's the case, so be it.

What I suspect is that after a year or two of Jabrill wearing the #2 jersey the staff/school/whatever will cristened it with a Charles Woodson legacy patch. Make it official.

If Jabrill ends up somehow surpassing Woodson, great, if not, well... you can shoot for the stars and still land in the clouds.

It appears unlikely that your suspicion is correct. On the arm, we can see that the number at least begins with a 1. Your observation of that is correct, but there are more details to glean.

On the leftmost edge of the photo, we see a thin fraction of a number on the chest. Usually that wouldn't be enough to be helpful but, the fraction we see on the chest is of a tall number, unbroken from top to bottom. In Michigan's numbering font, that can only be a "1." But of all the details viewable here, the characteristic most fingerprinty of a #1 jersey is that the number on the chest is centered precisely under the adidas logo.

Not only does the jersey begin and end with a "1," but it also has only one "1".

Either the jersey is hanging there for absolutely no reason, or it's been given out this year. Funchess? Harris? Canteen? Darboh? Chesson? They all seem unlikely. Because of the Kramerishness, Funchess is easily eliminated. Harris wasn't even the best newcomer this spring. Canteen getting it would be a slap in the face to Harris. Darboh hasn't even played in a game. And Chesson had a lukewarm debut.

If you're trying to post an image, upload it to a photo sharing service first (I use Photobucket, but there are numerous options) and then paste the URL - which it will generate for you - into the OP in plain text mode. It should work then. As a note, you might want to resize the photo so it fits conveniently into the box provided - for headers, roughly 500 pixels for the length on this site, but remember to scale it appropriately.

The whole idea of giving someone a retired number is bad.  Singling out a player as being special is bad for team chemistry.  It is in conflict with the Bo's view of the "the team".  I would rather go back to the days that players received decals for plays on the field.

it is supposed to be special.  It cannot be good for team chemistry.  I cannot imagine something like this taking place when Bo was HC.  He gave away decals and players coveted those. I lived in FB's dorm during my freshman year and I remember that it was a big deal if a player got multiple decals after a game.

I think I just rolled my eyes so hard that I pulled my superior rectus muscle. That's the muscle that controls eye rolling. I think. I wasn't totally clear on which muscle did what based on those Wikipedia diagrams.

Needless to say, though, your comment made me roll my eyes to a great extent to express my exasperation and disbelief!

It's a number. Blake may want to keep his number. It's also a number that has always been worn since Woodson. Shawn Crable and Vincent Smith both had it as freshman.

People make a big deal out of #1 being earned even though that's never been true except for Braylon and then after him.

#2 has NEVER been like that. Ever.

At what point do you stop going batshit crazy over numbers? Does #77 have to be earned? That's far more prestigious than #2 if you look at the talent that has worn it.

What are you talking about team chemistry. How about Peppers actually be GOOD...THAT is fucking GREAT for team chemistry.

That was literally the strangest hissy fit I've ever seen on this site. I had to make sure you weren't joking because it was just weird.

I almost wonder how you felt about Caris LeVert wearing #23 as a freshman. Almost.
