best insider report ever on the first day of practice: "Posted by ErocWolverine at 4:00pm EDT. Wednesday: 3/17/2010 Michigan Football Tidbits: Practice 1 Report Let us pose a question. What can be learned from the various media reports of attending practice for fifteen minutes? Well, at least some “sources” finally were correct in stating that Tuesday was the first practice date, because many of the media and recruiting sites thought it was on Sunday. But GBMW knew for several months that the first practice was on Tuesday. A little research indicated that practice schedules have been out since January 20th....." that's all. just thought it was funny, that they were bragging about knowing practice started tuesday. p.s. why has the tag "coachbt say these BRICKS have high quality GROUT" never been used? come on, now.

Those boys are classic, I love to love em, they always make me smile one way or another. This classic parody post from RedGreen deserves an encore...
coachbt gets his shit pinned on scout almost every day. Insider information like this... If Michigan looses to MSU it will be the biggest lose of the season. The UM o-line will have to get bigger & stronger if they plan to be a bigger & stronger unit. I want a defense that will rip someones fucking head off and shove it up their fucking ass!!!!! If we have a loosing record it will be a big lose and will affect recruiting and we will prolly loose recruits to. If the defense improves, and we score more points than our opponent, there is a 60-40 chance we win.

CoachBT has some decent insights and is a pretty fair poster but Eroc is usually just a cranky old man yelling at people to get off his lawn.

I can't quite understand why some on this Michigan fan site are obsessed with hate for another U of M blog. If you dislike the site so much, why are you there reading it? I think it says more about how pathetic you are that you actually have to come here to post just how much you hate another UM blog site

I get the modern usage, but there's a big disctinction between pointing out that someone does something terribly and expressing strong enmity towards them for it. Usage aside, poking fun at several anonymous internet guys for making a partial living through writing while actually writing at or below a middle school level is I think entirely within bounds. And you've never paid attention to anything for its train-wreckish qualities?

First, Michigan fans are obsessed with hating everything. Doesn't matter who or what--expecially with Michigan supplying the world with enough suck to film a truckload of porn films. Second--pure D elitism. Only those as insecure as most here or on Scout could possibly find the time or energy to pound the intranets looking for so many people to call a "douchebag." Another reason is, of course, the WLA just might be reading and give the guy who spews hate for everyone, even fellow Wolverine fans who don't meet WLA approval, the "cool" stamp. Lastlty, this board is full of Scouties. Scouties are overly protective of King Beaver. King Beaver and Eroc have had a falling out. So Scouties now hate Eroc. Same with Maizeman. It's pretty pathetic, but this and other Michigan boards are becoming self parodies where there are numerous threads daily about someone to hate because said someone said something bad about Michigan. There probably isn't a fan base in the world that has deserved the last two years more than ours.

Lets see - seeting hatred for Michigan fans? Check. A re-used avatar from previous incarnations? Check. Crazy WLA "conspiracy"? Check. Hi Barking Sphincter/King of Belch/whatever your other names were!

our fan base hating everything when you clearly are brimming with self-loathing or maybe you are just trolling? In any event, I was a "Scoutie" who left the site because I couldn't take any more goofy Beaver-speak, but I liked Maizeman and disliked Eroc. So perhaps you are painting with too broad a brush?

somebody called the pc police. Quick, hide that book over there. It has words like black, gay and garbage man in it. Seriously, I hate that I have to put more thought into what to call a woman sitting at a desk to answer my phone and make appointments for me than I do to diagnose a patient. They are no longer secretaries, they are administrative assistants. Garbage men aren't garbage men, they are sanitary engineers. Come on now, wtf!

Coach BT's posts that get pinned are generally those that break down the strength and weakness of a recruit, not his insider info. But why bring fact into the thread, right? Also, I took his post as a slam against the Freep for them never having their facts correct and constantly posting errant information. He did specify that the practice dates were available if anyone took the time to research it. He did not post it as if he and RR had coffee last week and Rich let that little nugget of info out of the bag.

While I generally subscribe to the GBMW = FAIL paradigm, I do think it's necessary to give credit where it is due. Those guys basically predicted that UM would struggle to get to six wins after spring ball last year, despite everyone saying "OMG 9 WINS." They also argued that the defense needed to get bigger and that it would struggle against the run. So yes, it's a poorly-written blog, and apparently they write their own questions (I thought I read that on these boards and if that's true then...wow), but I wouldn't say it's a totally worthless blog since they have been more correct than 85% of UM football pundits on issues that matter.

I am with you. GBMW has their shortcomings but they do bring useful and interesting info to the table. Their style is tough to read sometimes but dammit I like them, part of their attraction for me, is the hate they engender on this blog. So their best qualities were that they predicted struggling last year and they thought we would be bad at stuffing the run? Which is what all but the most optimistic Michigan fans predicted. On top of that, the blog is ugly, poorly written, and lacks any kind of truly original insight. I'm not plugging my blog here. There are better blogs than mine (including the one we're posting on, obviously), and I usually enjoy reading Genuinely Sarcastic, Our Helmets Have Wings, and a couple others. I miss Three and Out. Heck, Brice's Recruiting is just as insightful as GBMW, in my opinion, and as far as I can tell, it's run by someone who's in approximately 10th grade.

many know me from gbw boards... coachbt, has always been open and honest in his assessments on players. He never blew smoke up peoples tails to make them happy about the upcoming season like most want when they pay for scout rivals or any other service. Coachbt would flat tell you where he thought players stood and from my time seeing him on boards posting at gbw or seeing his takes on gbmw', eroc's blog he is always accurate. If you have an insult on his football accumen take it up with him, otherwise you are just being a coward to run to another board to insult him. Coachbt and Eroc both attend michigan football practices as well as have some connections for inside info. But many things they don't post. Could the blog be much better written, absolutely and it makes it tough to read. As well they need an IT person to set up the blog so it is much more user friendly. That said they have a definite niche in the blogosphere, Magnus, you used to be on gbw, and I find it funny you continually insult them here and yet never bring better info or insight...yes I have read your blog. Are there places for top inside info, yes, many and many in the blogosphere, it's up to you what you want to find. Personaly I find the vast majority don't like gbmw because the style doesn't blow smoke up your tail cause they simply tell you straight forward when things suck, long before you wanted to hear it.

I find it funny when people rip GBW. I think it comes from a jr high dynamic of locker room envy. Enjoy the content of all blogs, call them out when wrong but why rip it. Maybe I should start a blog and get an avatar of a scantily clad women and post 400 times a day to bring attention to my blog that can't even get a response when I thing Arnett is a bust and lacks elusiveness.........but coachbt knows nothing. Sign me up!! Crap........I just gave a comment:((

What, exactly, would I be envious of? It's not like I'm trying to establish my blog as the Best Michigan Blog on the Internet. That title belongs to MGoBlog, and I even mentioned a couple other blogs that I enjoy reading. This has nothing to do with my blog. If I didn't write a blog, I would still say the same things about GBMW.

Magnus

March 19th, 2010 at 11:55 AM ^

a) I'm not running to another board to complain about him. I have stopped reading GBMW because I don't like reading it. It's a waste of time. Why would I give their site more hits just to point out that I don't like their blog? b) I have never - not for a single day - been a member of GBW. You must have me confused with someone else, or maybe there's another poster named Magnus. The only subscription I have ever had was/is to Rivals. c) Feel free to insult my blog. I don't really care. Some people find it useful; some people don't. I don't do it for a living, so it doesn't bother me if you don't think it's worth your time.

You were never a member but you still rip on it......... I wasn't ripping your blog. I was ripping you for ripping another site. THere is a difference at GBW.......Stadium and Main IS NOT the same as the premium site. I have read your blog before and probably will again. I have never understood any pissing match on blogs or message boards. The only things that we should agree on is: 1. Brian runs a fantastic blog 2. Mlive is trollville 3. Scout and Rivals premium board hate each other.....so be it.

Magnus

March 19th, 2010 at 2:34 PM ^

FWIW, my response was to energy (or whoever that was), not you. I have no idea what Stadium and Main is. Also, I rarely read the Rivals message board (let alone comment), so I really have no feelings one way or the other about the rivalry between the Scout and Rivals boards.

on gbw...if it wasn't you, my apologies In anycase. I know coachbt, I have played football and also know the sources of he and eroc. I have never belonged to Rivals and did to scout, still roam/moderate stadium and main for gbw. gbmw, eroc's blog, coachbt makes no bones, he is a hs coach, he gives his take on players, how they fit at d1 level and michigan's schemes....he is often dead on... They were way dead on saying the team would be fortunate to get 6 wins and everyone laughed them off saying 7, 8 wins easy with the schedule...., Run defense, coachbt stated it was scary bad, not struggle as many were saying, well if they do this..., no coachbt was out and out saying the defense was going to suffer period...dline was undersized, lbers undersized, didn't have the attitude to play lber and didn't tackle....and all along repeated how scary the depth was.... nobody listened.....they kept posting, look at the numbers....29 scholarship players and how many were tr fr....it wasn't a matter of grob, it was a matter of no bodies and depth....they stated it for a long while and people insulted them. insult the spell check, lack of cohesive structure to the site, but they were correct even if Eroc comes off very gruff in his style.... Gbw, tom beaver has a business to run, thus premium info while the info is good is geared to keep posters up and up..... lets face it when there is bad news michigan fans go off the deep end....but gbw is typically out ahead of the curve on info from my experience... Rivals, more professionally written articles but day late dollar short as friends with rivals would tell me something I had long known it from gbw. Not that I am on beavers coat tails, just the community at gbw as a whole is fantastic. I frequent this site a lot, actually alot more now since I stopped premium with gbw. Info is good, I like the style here as well.

when I write a blog for you to critique, I'll let you know.... If I want to write for journalistic reasons I'll clean it up and edit. That said, I don't and have no need to worry about what you think of my written.....but thank you for sharing

I mean, why post on a message board if you don't want people to read it? Your above post was probably intended for me to read, which I would have been happy to do if it wasn't full of misspellings, run-on sentences, etc. I stopped reading after about a paragraph. Your elementary school teachers didn't teach you how to write complete sentences and spell just for shits and giggles. But since you acknowledge the fact that your message board-level prose wasn't up to par for an actual blog, perhaps now you realize why reading GBMW is so painful - because the guys over there write almost exactly how you posted above.

Reading that blog does give me a headache, and the writers are as grammatically efficient as a goldfish, but they do have some good insight on players. They'supposedly' attend a decent number of practices, so their information does have some value. My advice is to read through the blog with a grain of salt, if you take it too seriously, you'll become obsessed with Vlad.

That blog is fucking hard to read. We was told the receivers did not play good but maybe it was due to they was tired. We was told they was not using the tight ends but maybe it was do to they was dropping the ball. We was told the rb's was doing ok but based on what we was told we think we was told the wrong information. We was told a certain fresman qb was impressive but what other things we was told he dropped the ball a few times and also overthrown wide receivers and so waht we was told the first time wasn't what we was told the second time and it's not like we throw mud on a building and hope that it sticks.

and then mgblog. gbmw doesn't put much up and I find it informative. More bang per word, if you will. Both have great central content. Very often, like now, I wish I hadn't even checked on the boards. All goes back to if you don't have anything positive to add, __________.
