Locker room issues after the game?
I'm copy and pasting WMUKirk's post from the Snowflakes Offense thread. Feel free to delete if you think it shouldn't be up. Figured people would miss this as it is buried in that thread.
"I do not know where to post this but here's information for you.
1. Michigan will be holding a players only meeting tomorrow, spearheaded by Jake Ryan, and Ramon Taylor.
2. Shane has a high ankle sprain, doubtful he plays next week. Can barely put pressure on it.
3. Desmond Morgan is highly upset that Jabril didn't play today.
4. Players morale has geniuely finally dipped.
5. Jabril turned his back to the coaches after the game, and looked in his locker. He's highly disgusted.
6. Doesn't feel like a team, defense keeps to defense. Offense to offense. Not much cross mingling between them after this game.
7. Nuss & Hoke argued with Dave Brandon present. Words weren't audible to any one else. "

high ankle sprains - slow to heal properly, could take a month or more

I just don't see how Gardner, issues and all, isn't the best option.

Actually, didn't Whitlock end that article by saying that he had no doubt Hoke would turn things around because Hoke was a smart, humble, hard-working guy who gets it?
September 27th, 2014 at 11:09 PM ^
Problem is this program is 360 degrees turned around since the coaching change.

Let the internal unraveling begin. Hopefully there's at least a semblence of a team left when the dust settles.

There was barely any interaction btw the players. At some points, where you would think a junior/senior would be rallying people around (or at least a coach), they were all just standing there.
And the QB group didn't seem to interact at all. Maybe I missed it, but it seems like Morris went in, he went out, sat by himself, wash/rinse/repeat.
Oh well. I hope they sort it out. They're a bunch of good guys on the team and if they can keep it together, maybe next year (with better coaching and more experience), their talent will shine and they can pile up some W's. But based on what I saw today, if any of them decide to leave, that's their decision -- I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

This is not an attempt to defend the atrocity that is 2014's "team".
But it is worth noting that there are EXACTLY 12, yes 12, "Seniors" on this team.
6 Red Shirt
6 True Seniors
And that IS huge and it DOES have an effect.
Poking around at other teams, UM is estimably, in between 1-2 standard deviations away from the average amount of seniors compared to Top 25 teams, which I don't imagine to be extremely different from the ~100 other unranked teams.
ND, for example, has 29, they are an extreme case. On my own brain's fallible recollection, I would say the average seems to be ~20-25 seniors per Top25 team.

Major thing I have noticed is the separation between the offense and defense. They do not seem to communicate at all, and in games when the offense struggles the defense seems to suddenly play with less fire, and when the defense fails the offense plays uninspired. There is no sense of "Don't worry about that, we got your back". You watch other teams play and you see offensive players standing up encouraging their defense or vice versa, but you watch Michigan and when the defense is on the field the offensive players are sitting on the bench drinking their gatorade.
There seem to be many different factions to this team, and this has resulted in the team being disjointed and not being on the same page. It seems that every play has at least one player making a mistake as a result, and this lack of unity spells DOOM.

The offense is horrible so it's obvious the OC isn't calling the game right or he isn't allowed to open it up. Our players don't care anymore and they play like they don't care. If Gardner is in the game he locks in on Funchess. No one else gets the ball except for running backs. Not a way to keep other players happy. Morris is not ready and to allow him to continue at starting QB is not going to solve the problem. The OL is horrible and that falls on the shoulders of the OL coach. The offense is in disarray. Hoke has to go.
Now the defense is starting to get beat by the likes of Minnesota, Miami of Ohio and of coarse Notre Dame, when they never showed up by allowing 36 points. Mattison is not getting players to the QB. No blitzes, screens kill the D, and now the run defense a getting overpowered by inept teams.
No wonder the team is divided and there is finger pointing in the locker room. Fans are booing and leaving in the 3rd quarter. Hoke makes subtle jokes about the boos but doesn't have the wherewithal to keep this team together. He is a very good recruiter but he he not a head coach. He had to go. And take the rest of the staff with him.
This team has some very talented players but a weak coaching staff can and will not bring the best out of them. I'm sure committed recruits will think twice about their status with Michigan and I'm sure there will be some current players transferring. So sad that a storied program like Michigan has sunk to this level of ineptness. So sad.

This doesn't justify anything Borges or Lewan did or doesn't disprove anything said against those two.
It doesn't always have to be one way or the other. Borges could've been an idiot and bad playcaller, Lewan could've been a knucklehead and a bad teammate, Hoke can be a moron and a bad coach and this team can be awful.

I want to see how many former players come out and tell me and the fans how we should act and to stick with the coaches. I find it interesting that they are willing to totally discredit themselves, when several of them work in the media. The more they have to say, the more I realize I shouldn't put much value in what they have to say!
September 27th, 2014 at 10:28 PM ^
"r he isn't allowed to open it up."
open it up to what? QB's who look confused, WR's who don't get open, and an OL who can't block?

I'm serious, I will donate $5,000 for a Harbaugh to Michigan kickstarter. Make it t-shirts or an offer to pay him a signing bonus, I don't care. No joke, $5,000 today from one fan for a Harbaugh.

If serious please think about Chad Carr. Find another young person stricken with cancer from a family without money. Give your five thousand to them.

Don't fucking tell him who to give his money to. For all you know, he could already be contributing tens of thousands of dollars to various charitable causes. He is free to spend his hard earned money on what ever he desires, as is everyone.

Fuck shit piss!
Jabrill is going to leave, watch. MOTHER FUCKER!
They've got to get someone new in there now. Fire Hoke, let Nuss be the interim HC and get a new sexy coach in ASAP and try, as best he can, to stop the defections. I don't care if you tell Peppers that he's going to get to play 100% of the snaps on both sides of the ball -- KEEP THAT KID IN ANN ARBOR!
Sounds to me like Nuss is pissed because Hoke is hamstringing him. Wonder if the same thing was happening with Borges calling games.
Please Jabrill don't leave!
