(Live) Mascot

Submitted by blueak on

Brian has the cool Auburn scoreboard up on the main page featuring the cool live war eagle mascot of Auburn. So, how about a cool live wolverine mascot prowling the Michigan sidelines? Somewhere, somehow, someone must have raised a, relatively, tame wolverine from birth. If that person could make his or her pet available for home game visits, I'm all for it. What say you?

Somehow this sounds exactly like an idea your avatar picture would've had. I read the entire paragraph in his voice in my head.

We had two of them in 1927, named Bennie and Biff.  They didn't take well to being caged, and they were eventually given to the Detroit Zoo.

This just goes to show how awesome the wolverine really is.  It can't be tamed.  It will always be a wild, vicious predator, ready to destroy Buckeyes, Spartans and Irish in its path.

We used to have two, I've always liked the idea of bringing them back, the only problem is that Wolverines aren't native to Michigan, they have to be brought in from places like Alaska

Why stop at tame?  His cartoon/logo image could be an Alvin/Chipmunks knockoff and he could do lots of insanely sugary/sweet/cudlly things in mini-cartoons on the videoboard that makes us go "Ahhhhh!!!!  He's so cute!".

No thank you.

Fielding Yost, on why Michigan stopped using live mascots:

"It was obvious that the Michigan mascots had designs on the Michigan men toting them, and those designs were by no means friendly."

Ever notice every other college team down south is named "_____ Tigers" ? It's like they flip a coin when deciding on a school mascot down there. "Heads , it's Tigers / Tails, "it's somethin else then".
