A little OT: Who has the better class now Florida or Texas?

Submitted by woodsonfromleaf97 on
Florida's class has been called the best ever but Texas now has an extremely good one as well. Who in your opinion has the better class?

I'm not sure about Florida having the best class ever. U$C had a pretty dominating class in 2007. They brought in 6 5* and 10 4* recruits out of 18 total.

I would take Texas in this one. As Deon Sanders said: "Texas produces football players, Florida produces athletes." While athletes are great to have it seems that a polished High School kid is more likely to atleast contribute at the next level. Florida kids are high risk/high reward, in my non expert opinion.

Football does mean more to the towns in Texas, but Florida HS football is great, too. It's not like Texas teams dominate FL teams when they play each other, either. Texas kids, like California kids, seem to get better coaching and arrive more likely to contribute because they are closer to being finished products, but by the time they are juniors or seniors, they have all had good coaching, allowing talent and work ethic take over as the determining factors in how good they become. I would be ecstatic to see Michigan recruit any of those three states strongly on a regular basis. And I still contend that at least five Florida HS teams could beat most GLIAC teams straight up right now.

I guess that's why Florida (the state) has produced 10 national championships and played for 7 others in the last 27 years while Texas (the state) has played for 2 and won 1. Seems to me the state of Florida has done quite well with high risk/high reward kids.

I personally think both teams have extremely good classes and frankly I don't know that I could pick between them. Florida's star average is a 3.92 and Texas' is a 3.96 but Florida has more 5*s and their kids dominated the All-star games. I would take either!!

I think Florida got a great class for how they play, Texas has a great class for how they play. Texas would not take Floridas class, Florida would not take the Longhorn's class. Both programs did a great job.

Florida has 11, Texas has 3. If we're judging on who has the "better" class based on how many of these guys see the field early or have an early impact, I would tip the scale to Florida.

I hadn't checked my other sites, I always go to Mgoblog first, so I laughed at the question. I then headed over to Rivals/Scout to find out both Jeffcoat and Hicks committed to Texas, wow. That being said, I think Ronald Powell and Shariff Floyd will end up being high NFL draft picks. Throw in Easley, Elam and the rest of those DB's and I gotta stick with Florida strictly with that defensive recruiting.
