Listening to the game...anywhere!

Far be it from me to self request a sticky, but I think this information might really help people as it seemed to be asked over and over again during the live blog yesterday.  Feel free to comment and add information, lord knows these are not the only sources of radio on game day.

If you want to listen to a Michigan football broadcast go here:

1. Local Radio in Ann Arbor - 1050AM WTKA, 102.9FM

2. Local Radio in Detroit - 950 AM WWJ

3. To listen to the game on the net goto: http://www.mgoblue.com/allaccess/

4. To listen to the game on your Iphone or Android:  1. Go to the App store and get the free application "iheartradio".  2. Run the "iheartradio" app.  3. Go to the all cities link, and search for Grand Rapids, Michigan.  4.  Search for the station WOOD 1300AM, the game will be on there.  [Blue Okie provides an additional source: Big Ten Network app for smart phones also carries the radio broadcast for each team.]

*How to listen to our announcers versus Pam Ward:  In the past, the stream on the net was so far behind the video broadcast that you could use a DVR to hold the video for a few moments and the play by play would then catch up.  This year at least in the first few games the mgoblue feed has been much quicker and thus you could not do this anymore.  I am happy to report that as of yesterday the 'iheartradio' feed is significantly behind the video (at least on ESPNU) and thus you could listen to our announcers, and watch the video using a DVR to match the two up.

5. Satellite Radio: a. Sirius radio is an official sponsor of many colleges, including Michigan, therefore every game will be on Sirius (thanks MGoShoe)  b. XM does not have specific contracts with schools, but does have league sets of channels (Big Ten, ACC, etc.) While I am local and have not had to use Satellite to listen in that often, I have heard games not locally available on XM through their Big Ten Feeds...One warning for those using Satellite radio, at least a few years ago when I listened to a game, you get only the game itself thus no pregame, no aftergame.  The radio turns on right when the game starts and cuts off right when the game ends

Much like the U-M bars around the world posts, I hope this helps Michigan folks to be able to enjoy their favorite team wherever they might be around the world!

I've just scoured the internet and the android marketplace for a way to listen to the Purdue game on my phone. I should've known to check here, the greatest UM blog in the world.

I have to leave my house to drive to the airport right when the game starts. I have XM in my car so I'll hear the first part. But when I get to the airport in Phoenix, I'm sure the game won't be shown since it's not on ESPN or ABC. Now I can listen to it on my phone. I have a short flight to LA that will cover most of the 2nd half and may have to break the 'no cell phone' rule on the airplane for the first time in my life.

I stumbled across a related page at mgoblue.com that has a list of the basketball radio affiliates for the 2010-11 season. A number of the stations are the same, but there are some differences. The page also has info on the John Beilein Show--schedule, affiliates, and links for listening online.

See: 2010-11 Michigan Basketball Broadcast Information

One thing to note in particular if you're in Ann Arbor:

WWWW 102.9 FM to Broadcast Games 5 p.m. or Later

In the Ann Arbor area, all Michigan men's basketball contests with a tip at 5 p.m. or later will be broadcast on WWWW (102.9 FM). Games that start earlier than 5 p.m. will air on WTKA (1050 AM).

There's a similar page for women's basketball, which also includes info on Big Ten Network coverage of games, including online streaming. See: 2010-11 Michigan Women's Basketball Broadcast Information

Has anyone used the Spartan Radio Network app for Android?  I really wish there was an equivalent for us, it is a great interface and incredibly easy to use.  Unfortunately, it means I have to listen to homer broadcasters whenever I'm driving out of state and we play little brother.

Glad I found this, as I just arrived in Germany and trying to figure if I could find a stream of the game or at least a radio station for it.  I'll be listening in.

Can't find the radio station on "Iheartradio." Is it blocked for some odd reason? I like to listen to the game in my car when I am traveling, so any help would be much appreciated.

I couldn't get to 1300AM on the radio app either, BUT...

There is now an MGoBlue2go app! Look up MGoBlue (made by CBS) in the app store. It is free, but a yearly subscription to the audio streaming is $9.99. Worth it in my opinion as I live in Russia and can't get to the online streaming on my work computer and the streaming is flash based so doesn't work on my ipad. It's also a nice little app even if you didn't want to pay for the streaming.

I work a half mile from 1300 Wood radio but it wont come in because of all the electronics and steel that is in the building.  I cant bring in a phone but can have a radio at my work station.  Is anyone an expert on these expensive antennas.  Will these help?

I noticed the mgoblue iPhone app had an update after downloading it I noticed the app wasn't updating.  Went to delete it and reinstall only to discover it is no longer in the iTunes store?  Anyone know why this is? I contacted the Ath dpt and CBS Sports who makes it and haven't gotten a response.
