Hopefully the Lions can get win #4 @ Tampa today.
Cleveland @ Cinci
Washington @ Dallas
Houston @ Tenn
Jacksonville @ Indy
KC @ St. Louis
Buff @ Miami
Philly @ Giants
Zona @ Carolina
NO @ Balt
Yet, it is such an appropriate song for the franchise.
I am not really impressed with the Miami Dolphins fight song, although the cheerleaders are cool. Thy kinda gave me a tingly feeling!
When we have such an awesome fight song here, it's hard to listen to other fight songs. But even if we had a terrible fight song this would still be difficult to listen to.
without Brandon Graham.
Of course there's always Mario Manningham and Jason Avant, but they can't sack Eli.
It didn't lose it's luster after that comeback!!!! I normally love Mario, but could not have been happier (as an Eagles fan) when he fumbled that ball. He killed us in the first half though with his 2 touchdowns. It certainly wasn't on him with that fumble during that Giants collapse. Tough to be happier right now after that unreal comeback!!
Not too many good games today. I'm excited for Indy/Jax, NE/GB and of course Philly/NYG. Other than that, a lot of blowouts or pillowfights.
Anyone in their fantasy final four this week? The clown I'm up against started Vincent Jackson & Phillip Rivers, so I'm down 69 points before today even starts.
I am, I started the 2nd week down 27 because of Aaron Rodgers getting concussed and Dwayne Bowe putting up a goose egg. I need a dominant week to bridge the gap to make it to the finals, doesn't look good ... hopefully the Steelers D and Tom Brady both have amazing games.
Giants-Eagles. Huge showdown. Go Big Blue!!
Also of note, Gus Johnson has the Oakland/Denver game at 4:15 on CBS.
We're starting the second best rookie QB today...
Colt McCoy (a steal in the late 3rd round)
I'm looking forward to seeing what they look like after Shwartz chewed them out this week.
I'm also going with Ochocinco in fantasy today despite him tweeting about cutting his hand this morning slicing oranges (can't make that up haha).
With the last pick in the draft, I was furious we took Tim Toon. As much as I love dreads, especially a white dude with dreads, we should have picked Legarrette Blount.
We could have a double headed monster back there with Jahvid and Blount
Good stop on 3rd down with a Freeman overthrow, Logan fair catches the punt, Lions will take over at the 19 yard line.
Marching out Stafford every week is soul crushing. It's like sitting at the strip club with your buddies and from behind the curtain walks... your sister.
I think you mean Stanton?
God dammit. Yes Stanton.
Joke = ruined.
Life = fuck mine.
3 plays for 2 quick 1st downs then drive stalls. Bucs take over after 2 yard return by Spurlock.
Indy 7-0 after Peyton TD
Saints up 7-0 after Bress TD
3rd and 5 Lions send 6 and Avril sacks Freeman.
So much for not having a Michigan player on defense: Avant made a tackle (after Vick throws interception). Mario reception on next play. Then a huge non-Graham sack of Eli. Philly punting on their next possession.
Browns up 7-0 on McCoy td pass to Eddie Royal
Titans up 7-0 on Collins td pass, threatening again on Houston's 5.
Cowboys up 3-0 on Redskins.
Rams up 3-0 on Chiefs.
Other two games 0-0
for 1st down. One of those pretty pointed-toe ballerina catches just inside the line.
TD Lions!!!!! Burleson 10 yard TD from Stanton! 7-0
but fight breaks out? (Not related to TD.) (penalty against Philly declined.)
...and this would be the first time all year I bench Manningham. DAMMIT
Burleson basically bulldozed his way into
Titans add another TD, 14-0.
Rams add a FG 6-0.
Baltimore scores on Flacco TD pass, 7-7 vs Saints.
Panthers add FG, 3-0 over Cardinals.
Also Rayner's had two short kick in a row, wonder if that's on design to contain Spurlock.
i would love nothing more than to see Peyton and Indy lose to Jax today and basically be dead in terms of playoffs.
And so is Gabe Watson for AZ.
"They're like they're our little brother right now. They want to be the big brother," said running back Dominic Rhodes, who is in only his second week with the Colts this season but came to know Jacksonville well while with the Colts in 2001-06 and 2008.
between peyton having collie back and having garcon against jax this time.
incidentally, the NFL really needs to change the fair catch signaling rule. JAX just got a touchdown out of the rule being confusing, and that's the second time i've seen players confused by it just in the few games i've watched.
after catching 2 TD passes, collie just got his neck crunched and is currently surrounded by medical personnel on the field and not moving. this after missing 5 games because of concussions already this year.
edit: he eventually sat up, then eventually stood up, and walked back into the locker room. good signs all, but he's definitely headed for some imaging.
It's not an ambiguous rule. It has to be waved ABOVE your head. His arm slightly waved below his head. Therefore it's not a fair catch. I'm not sure what's so confusing about that.
i think it can be hard to decide at full speed whether a guy with his head tipped back waving his hand at neck level is waving it over his head or not. and the confusion it causes manifests in two ways, both of which are bad for the level of play. either he didn't signal and you think he did, and then it's free yards or points for him (as just happened in the colts game), or he does signal and you think he didn't, and then it's almost like polamalu-on-lockett territory.
End of 1st quarter, Bucs get an 18 yard gin on fluky 3rd and 13 play. Lions up 7-0.
Browns 7-0 over Bengals end of 1st.
COlts 7-0 over Jags end of 1st.
Rams 7-0 over Chiefs end of 1st.
Panthers 6-0 over Cards end of 1st
Miami 0-0 Buffalo in 2nd quarter.
the Lions of earlier years. False starts, delay of games, PI penalties.
Now that I say that they convert on 4th down though. Of course.
I just jinxed them. I'm done posting. I have finals to study for anyway.
Awful coverage on TD pass for Bucs after they convert a 4th and 2. 7-7
Mother fucking crap sandwich bitching suck.
This time was long, curling run-after-the-catch. 14-3 Gints.
Wow, Refs are pandering to the Jags.
Pass it to Mario!!!
Is going to get himself killed if hes not careful here.
They are indifferent tacklers.
Lions defense missing tackles en route to a big Blount TD run. 14-7 with 3:41 left in the half.
smh at Lions D. Getting good pressure up front, but broken plays all going in Tampa's favor.
Wow Legarrette delivers some Blount-force trauma. I'm glad I got him on my fantasy team.
you're a shoe in for the broadcasting booth.
Tackling is horrible!!! How about wrapping up a guy instead of just hitting him.
by stanton on the forward pass.
Uh Oh, looks like Stanton got a little dinged up there on that play. Hmmm who is the back up?
I read that Hill is available today. So I think he would probably play.
Just seen him on the sideline dressed and pacing around with his helmet on.
stanton hurt haha jeeze the lions can't catch a break
looks like they don't give up too many sacks
that in the NFL EVERY quarterback gets hit. There is no such thing perfect pass protection.
Are the Christmas lights on the scoreboard the timeouts?
Makes another catch, but took time getting up and hopping off one foot. His tackler on ground as well (Nate Allen, rookie -- taken off field sitting up on cart).
Glad I waited to submit. Manningham back on field making the next catch.
Man you gotta feel bad for Austin Collie. Poor kid - works so hard, tough luck with injuries.
On a lighter note, Ryan Fitzpatrick's beard is the stuff of legends. Seriously.
The Texans and Titans almost get in another fight. Antonio Smith is engaged with a Tennessee O-Lineman. Cushing comes over to break it up, Antonio Smith pulls off Cushing's helmet for stepping in. Cushing flagged for "removing his own helmet." Tennessee get's 15 yards to make the FG attempt super easy.
TD after Philly turnover. Now time to watch for NFL Lions thank-you ad.
Who else gets a 15 yarder for getting into a fight with your own teammate? Coach is soooo fired.
they air a lot of the games on Fox Soccer Channel
No there's the FOX soccer channel, who's logo showed up for a second at the end of the commercial, and that's who has the games. HOWEVA, I much prefer the ESPN premier league commercials with Mumford and Sons.
And +1 for Arsenal. Nasri's the man.
He still was not worth a 2nd round pick, but he is better than Blueskies.
Holmes, that's like arguing which STD is best to catch.
"I have syphillis (Stanton). Well at least it isn't the herp (Harrington)."
Picks up first down. (WIth only 3 points and way back in their own territory, a first down can be considered a day-saver.)
EDIT: DIdn't save day. But Manningham sideline fumble may have. For Philly. Led to their first TD.
I think FOX is a little pissed at us all for making fun of the michigan-FOX-ninja-robot, because they mentioned the fumble and showed mario on the sideline like 15 times in about 2 minutes. he fumbled, we got it.
Ever since he didn't seem to know who AmARrni Toomer was when he first took over the Giants broadcasts. Troy Aikman was so tactful in trying to work into the conversation, without embarrassing his esteemed colleague, that AmANI was the Giants' leading receiver .
Seriously, someone tell Michigan's secondary to stop playing for the Texans.
And then we go and pick one. Not sure what Collins was doing there, that's the only guy that was covered. Yeah bad field turf!
Dang it stanton, how about waiting more than one second before deciding to run?
Than most teams do in a season (Lions excluded).
Cushing 0/2 on cutback contain that drive.
I think L. Blount is an outstanding player, what he is doing after contact is impressive.
They need dbs' and lbs who can tackle. These guys are costing the Lions the game.
Dude is a manchild. It's ridiculous. If he hadn't gone off his mind against Boise State, he'd have had a sick senior year with Oregon.
I've literally, never in my life, seen the lions get a break like that. Not saying it was a bad call, but the Lions NEVER get that call.
I think the next play was a great no call as both the wr and db were fighting and both turned toward the ball, but the hissy fit the wr had after the play was fantastic. Looked very much like my 4 year old!
i can't get the justin.tv stream to work, anyone watching online?
Holy shit Lance Moore touchdown. What a catch.
Long td pass /run? Field goal? Stay tuned!
In the end.
re: looks like they're going to pound it in the end
that's what she said?
On your fantasy teams. Jeebus.
down 3. Its Stanton time.
I don't like having no timeouts, and a sparty QB coming on the field. Also, don't like having a sparty kicker.
I eat my words
why oh why do we continually throw to bryant johnson. Nothing good ever comes of it.
Stanton has a hard time with numbers. He can only read the names.
Lies, we all know Sparties can't read
Why? Did Maurice Morris, Calvin Johnson, or Rayner go to MSU? I guess Stanton didn't screw up though, good for him I guess.
psssssssst: Rayner did, he punted and kicked there.
Overtime! Lets go Lions!
Joe Buck: "That's as good as it gets, right there." (Someone told him he overdid the Manningham fumble lecture.)
But Giants somehow had lost their huge lead, and that catch actually was very timely.
The Titans have been off sides on 4 of the last 5 plays including the PAT. This is almost comical.
Good job by Stanton to bring them down the field. You really see where having a QB like Brady/Manning makes the difference there though. So many passes that are just off the mark.
Morris has played a real good game today. Thank you Maurice.
EDIT: Also, I don't care what anybody says, Calvin Johnson is the best receiver in the league.
Calvin Johnson can bail anyone out of anything.
After pussing out and going for the run and FG on 3rd and 7.
My prediction of a 5 win season is still within reach!
Suck it league!! No more road losing streak. Back to back wins!
Suck it league!! No more road losing streak. Back to back wins!
Not to mention back to back posts
Touche. Normally I am ashamed when I double post, but in this moment of glory, I stand by my screw up.
Ha! It's over the loosing streak is over!
I am so happy they did not find a way to blow it...
Wow. And the Giants are giving away the game they had in hand. Perhaps this is their way of thanking the Lions for their stadium last week by taking the blow-it-at-the-end demon away from them.
I'm going to be honest, I thought the Lions were going to blow it
I wish Jason Hanson would have been able to kick that. That would have been nice for him
agreed. I hope his leg injury doesn't prompt an early retirement. He deserves to make the playoffs one more time. Hes been the one consistent performer throughout all the losing.
But Megatron was incredible. He played
like a big time player today.
This team has been improving, and clearly on the right track.
But I am so conditioned to be disappointed at the end, I was not prepared for the OT win. What a win it is too, with Tampa fighting for a playoff spot.
Lets hope it's only the start of Michigan teams winning big games in Florida!
HOLY FUCKING SHIT DESEAN JACKSON.
epic meltdown by the giants.
That was amazing!! My heart palpitations are just starting to subside after that game. Watched it at the same bar in almost the exact same location as the Illinois game in 3OT. Needless to say, I will park my ass in the same spot for EVERY game that has meaning for me from now until the end of time (or until i move to my next apartment)...because I know, that was the reason both those games were won. Well maybe not, but at least part of the reason, right?
Wow, what an ending to that Eagles Giants game!
Coughlin's reaction reminded me of Lynch throwing his gum at the end of last years Indiana game. Priceless.
Wow, did the Giants just blow that game. Eagles win the game on a punt return with no time left. Why wouldn't you punt it out of bounds?
Jason had the key block that ultimately allowed DJack to take this one back. It was a great block at midfield and although those never get recognition, without it Jackson would have been blown up well before the 30.
Should have, sorry it's a pet peeve of mine
Hey man, if you don't like it you could of just skipped over it.
is your post sarcastic? Should of? Can't tell.....Let me know and I'll decide whether to neg or posbang...
I think you should of been able to figure that out by the context of the post.
Its rude to criticize someone's grammar on a LolSean picture.
What the fuck kind of rule was it that Fox couldn't show the rest of the giants eagles game? Was that the case with everyone outside of the new york/philly markets?
Yah I was trying to figure that out myself. Fox was showing highlights of the game after haveing shown us the game tieing td. But couldn't show the game winner?
They could only show that game till a quarter after the hour.
Philly ties game, Giants have to punt with a few seconds left, Philly has no time outs left, and Joe Buck says, "DeSean Jackson hasn't taken a punt back for a TD yet this year..." Now he has.
[Coughlin's yelling at his punter, not at Joe Buck.]
Because the other 31 points were his fault too.
He was harder on his old team than his senior partner on the local post-game show grading. (Wasn't asked to grade Joe Buck.) Special Teams - F, QB - B, because he had did have 4 TDs and only one interception; everybody else got Ds. They played so well for 3 quarters and then blew it in incredible fashion.
PS: Punter knew he should kick out of bounds, got a bad snap and tried to make something of it.
Isn't it funny how when the Lions play a team without a huge national fanbase they suddenly don't have a big penalty problem anymore?? Just a coincidence I'm sure.
Anyone else wonder if the Lions would still be leading the league in penalties if they weren't playing in a division with the Packers, the Bears and Brett Favre?
Lions were due, hell... Lions fans were due. Thank-God, another gut wrenching loss would have been a tough pill to swallow. It feels good that for 2 weeks in a row, it's another fan base that is devastated. Lord knows Lions fans have drank from that cup way to often. 2 Sundays in a row, I think we could get used to this strange, wonderful thing called winning.
Megatron was awesome, but how about that rushing attack in OT? 40 yards on the first two plays? Mo Morris over 100 yards, it looked, dare I say, decent? The end of the Giants game was insane, that is the reason prevent defense should never be called.
My editor cursed and slammed his fist on the his desk when they kicked the winning FG. Sounded like an awesome win. It was blacked-out in the office because we live too close to Tampa.
Needless to say it's a good thing I'm leaving the office soon.
Detroit transplants still loyal to their team.Detroit has some great football fans.
Proven when they moved the Minnesota/NY game here. Ran out of tickets in 2 hours.
I'd say Detroit has the best sports fans.
Besides Ann Arbor of course...
One of my friends just sent me this link
quite hilarious. NSFW btw.
"There's a big difference between a half a yard and a foot..."
Yes, 6 inches.
26 straight road game loses streak finally over, Good job lions
On NBC right now.
he was robbed by his Michigan teammate. Tom Brady "stole my ring." (Said with a rueful smile.)
Anyone notice his little dance before the snap?
lol he was wiggling his butt
Detroit's sports teams made history Sunday. The Pistons, NFL Lions and NHL Red Wings all played in overtime, the first time any city has had three teams in those major sports play overtime on the same day. The Pistons defeated New Orleans, the Lions upset Tampa Bay and the Red Wings lost to Dallas.
Without knowing the results beforehand, I probably would have guessed the complete opposite: the Red Wings win, the Lions and Pistons lose.
