Go Lions! Would you bums just win!?
spoiler alert: i linked this
bad news Matt Flynn wailed on us the last time he played against us as a Packer...
Reggie Bush fumbles more than anyone I can remember
So much for that guarantee
I thought Bush said he was done fumbling..
and THAT my friends is the story of my Detroit Lion fandom from 1969 to present day. It's unbelievable that they've been able to sustain having drives like that end like that over FIVE DECADES of different players and countless coaches.
they keep this up, they're winning this game. For the first time in 10 years. Oh, fumble touchdown Green Bay, forget everything I just typed...:|
O/U lions turnovers today..4
Probably safe to take the over with 3 already
Yup. That fumble made it definitely feel like thanksgiving. #Lions.
This is SO Lions. Completely outplay a team, botch two chances to score Touchdowns, give the team a short field on a botch kick-off then cap it off with a fumble returned for a TD.
How soon until the Borges-led offense hits the field on Saturday? I need something to look forward too.
Same Old Lions. Wouldn't be Thanksgiving without them.
I'm not trying to troll. I seriously think they are going to lose out. They did it last year and it looks like that will be the case this season. The turnovers are killing the Lions this year.
How's this post sitting with you after watching the Lions dominate a team in a way they haven't in 20 years? 560-126 yard advatnage. 30 first downs vs 7. 41 minutes of clock vs 19. Almost 2 100 yd rushers. Offense outscoring opposing offense 38-3.
What a joke this game is..
Lions find new ways to break my heart
Calm yo' selves.
When Bush holds on to the ball he's pretty damn lethal.
Give this kid some time to develop a little more and he will be a Pro Bowler.
When Ziggy Ansah learns more moves other than the bullrush he's going to blossom.
Calling a game over in the first quarter. For those of you actually watching this game you would see that the lions are beating Green Bay handily, save the 3 turnovers. Have all rationale sports fans left this blog?
Happy Thanksgiving you grinches. Lions will win this game.
can very easily win this game. 3 turnovers, a missed field goal, and a kickoff out of bounds. All in one half.
Are you related to Drew Sharp?
The Lions know how to out-will another team to lose games.
I understand your point, but really Lions fans have earned their right to be excessively pessimistic - even if it is early in a game.
Lions should be up 31-3
Seriously how do NFL kickers miss anything inside of 40 yards?
The Lions are so mistake prone. Fire Schwartz and bring someone in who pays attention to detail.
Calm down they're still winning. And how is Akers missing a 31 yarder Schwartz' fault?
Schwartz has done a better job coaching this team than any other coach in 20 years since Wayne Fontes. And he's cool as ice on the sidelines which is pretty badass. I hope that what you want never happens.
Pretty sure that one's not on Schwartz.
...I think you forgot "/s"
If this team could limit the stupid turnovers and dumb penalties they would be running away with this division.
Because my balls don't hurt quite enough for my liking I'm flipping over to BTN to watch the replay of the 2005 OSU game.
You have officially jumped the shark.
Come ON Timmmay.....that was a joke in response to Akers yacking a 27 yard field goal.
After the Lions win this game, let's make a deal that you won't post your vitriol in the NFL threads anymore.
Aaron Rodgers should win MVP. It's amazing how different a team Green Bay is without him.
"Personal foul. He hit him too hard. 15 yard penalty, automatic first down"
Penalty! Hitting too hard and being mean, fifteen yards. First down.
How was that a personal foul? No helmet to helmet hit, didnt hit late and it was a perfect form tackle. WFT?
Even God himself knew that wasnt a penalty. Therefore he miracled that ball into our hands as retribution.
SMITE THE REFS!
Holding in the end zone!
the Lions look good. Obviously the Packers are without Rodgers but still, they aren't doing bad. You take away the turnover issues the Lions could be 9-2, at least, this year. If they get their act together they could actually go deep into the playoffs.
They have less than 60 total yards.
Wow, what did you do? Kill Brian's dog?
He went all 12-year-old playing Call of Duty on someone. It was one of the more pathetic things I've witnessed. Then he bragged about it later.
Watching the NFL makes me sad that the NCAA is a no-fun zone. Watching player touchdown dances and celebrations is great. Both teams would've racked up 100 yards in unsportsmanlike conduct penalties already if this was a college game
... and the fact they're not getting their asses handed to them again.
Has like 30 pounds on bell, and they are both 5'10 or so.
the Detroit Lions are winning big on Thanksgiving Day.
I am confused .... what do I do?
The lions are dominating, and it could be soooo much more.
wow. I'm watching this and fear this might be what we see on Saturday. Just saying.
Lions = 560 yards
Packers = 60 yards,
now that is domination.
for somebody to make the Lions= OSU and we= Packers analogy. Packers ( without Rodgers ) = no offense and lions had a running game .
If this lions team shows up for the rest of the year. Watch out.
Can play anybody when they show up /borges'd
It's the best Lions performance I've seen on Thanksgiving, for sure.
Lions 561; Packers 126
Yet we still managed a "fire Schwartz."
kickoffs out of bounds will do that.
Really? Everything you mentioned is on the players or just great plays by the packers defense. The game plan from the coaching staff was damn near perfect today.
Negative about the Lions all day until 5 min left in Q4. Lighen up dad.
the Lions past.
How does a missed FG influence the number of yards gained by either team? How do turnovers enable a team to gain more yards? If you are going to always be negative, at least know what you are talking about.
mistakes that cost them games. What your comment has to go with anything I do not know.
You should probably try to write a post that makes sense next time.
Dude, you just witnessed arguably the most dominant performance by the Lions in the modern era. The only one that comes close in my mind was that 33-3 or whatever drubbing of the Cowboys in the '93 playoffs. With 4 turn overs and mistakes our offense still outscored their offense 38-3, outgained them by 440 yards, doubled their time of possession, and had 4x more first downs. And it was over an arch-rival.
And yet every post of yours in this thread was to bitch. This is the time to look in the mirror and realize perhaps the prism you're viewing life through is all stained with your own vomit, and that it's time for a very long break.
Your constant hysterical bitching about Borges is not only tiresome, but far worse then anything I have written. Oh and I have decades of Lion futlity to justify my complaints. One cannot say the same about Michigan. The Lions would kill for Michigan's mediocrity.
The Lions lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers five days ago. Just last year they lost 8 games in a row to close the reason. The Lions deserve the harsh cynicism that you have employed against Michigan. Four turnovers is normally not winning football.(The Lions are 2-7 in such games in the Schwartz and Stafford era) nor is missing 30 yard field goals. That we just saw them do these same damn things versus the Bucs made it all the more infuriating.
I think you need to open your purse, push aside the Xanax, grab your compact, open it, dust off the cocaine, and take a look at yourself. Maybe then you'll realize that you need to go to rehab for being an enormous douchebag whose posts regularly get negged because you write like a drunken baboon just back from a week long bender on Fantasy Island.
While some of what you say is valid, you also need to realize you act like a roid-raging freak whenever the Lions play.
Well that escalated quickly.
Hey....I'm 54 and one my oldest memories of my father is him turning off the Lions games exactly ONE play into the game when they'd run it straight into the line. I've seen exactly one playoff win (thank you 1991) and the following:
An epic 5-0 playoff shutout in 1970 against Dallas
I was at the only game where an NFL player died on the field (RIP Chuck Hughes)
I was at the Thanksgiving day game against the Bears in 80 when we gave up a 17-3 lead with under 4 minutes to go and lost the shortest OT game in NFL history.
I was at the 1981 season finale against Tampa Bay game where the Lions, who had been previously undefeated at home, lost to Tampa Bay to keep them out of the playoffs.
I watched Billy Sims sign with the USFL, get resigned by the LIons, and then promptly blow his knee out upon his triumphant return
I've seen the Daryl Rogers era firsthand as well as countless other increadibly inept Lions coaches
I was there when Waynes Fontes blew a 38-14 lead at home to the Redskins by going three and out on five successsive possessions, never once handing the ball to this guy named Barry Sanders cause we were a "run and shoot" team.
I watched in 95 when a red hot Lions team, that won their last 7 games of the season, promptly fell behind 28-0 at Philladelphia in the first quarter of the first round of the playoffs.
I watched a non expansion team go winless in the NFL
I watched an NFL pick a wide out first in three successive drafts
I've seen more bad drafts than human being should be forced to endure
And Ive seen more defeats snatched out of the jaws of victory than sports should allow
And I've followed the last original NFL team to never make, much less win, a Super Bowl.
So I get why Salvadore is negative and angry....I truly do. If you're over 40 (and a man as Mike Gundy would say) it's really hard to think any other way.
I know you can't compare nfl to college, but it was great seeing Bell fight and fight and keep churning his legs to pick up a few more yards. Has been absent from our running backs this year. Too much down on contact. Mike Hart is rolling over in his grave,
So much for hiring him as one of our coaches...
Even with 4 turnovers, I believe this was the most.impressive win I've ever seem from the Lions in my life. Everything was clicking and I agree with the announcers that Rodgers may have not made that big of a difference with the way the dline owned the packers oline.
What you said except where you put a period between most and impressive for some odd reason. Perhaps /iphone'd
Even with Rogers out, I'll take it. Finally!!
I was at a family event but able to watch the game - that was a huge victory. Stafford went 22-35 for 330 yards with 3 passing TDs. Nice contirbutions from Bush and Bell on the ground as well. This hasn't happened since I was 25 years old, a Lions Thanksgiving victory - it made today just that much nicer.
Really executed well today.
Finally, a win. This must be a Thanksgivukkah miracle!
Lame "OC" knockoff joke.
Season one of The OC was quality.
Wow, was thinking after the turnover TD that the Lions are cursed and GB would beat them with a 3rd strong QB. I'm glad they came back to blow out the packs! I loved how they just totally dominated GB. I kind of wish Rodgers was playing. GB fans will whine and say, if only Rodgers was playing we would have won. Blah! Keep those packers out of the playoffs!
earlier this season.
Most dominant win by the Lions in 2 decades. This is one every Lions fan should savor and watch at least two more times on the DVR, especially in advance of Saturday for Wolverine/Lion fans.
