Is Lion Kim okay?
He withdrew after a first-round 72 in the US Open qualifier in Memphis. I know he's been battling a sore achilles among other things lately; and he's played a lot of competitive golf this spring. I hope he's okay and that his withdrawal is nothing serious.
score, but at the US Open qualifiers he was probably at least 5 back at the midway point, with mostly pros at that location. It was also about 95 degrees today.
135 was the last Qualifyer, Kim would have had to shoot a 63 just to get in the playoff. This shows 17 players WD after the morning round.

A 72 makes it a close call as to whether any injury at all might warrant getting out of Dodge. Or Memphis. He was one of many guys who WD.
78 players, for 10 spots in the Open. Sergio Garcia, Chad Campbell, Rich Beem, Fredrick Jacobsen, Briny Baird, Brian Gay, Jeff Quinney, Boo Weekley, Joe Ogilvie, Chris DiMarco. Yeah, it did look like the leaderboard at a Tour event.
I was just hoping that everything was okay with him. I hoped to see him on Dave Brandon's M vs. MSU match team.
but I would say the achilles, the heat and the reality of the competition probably all weighed in on his decision to withdraw.
72 is a pretty good score in a US open sectional, there were a few behind him who really blew up. I assume this was probably his first Sectional experience.
But he's young. Better to withdraw and not risk chronic injury if something is bothering him. He can try again next year.
Both Lion and Tiger battling achilles problems.

And the Bear is now too old to play.
Oh my!
When does Dorothy tee off?

Careful blazing around the Scarecrow, he has zero tolerance for that sort of thing.
