Line on the game?

Submitted by superstringer on

I haven't seen a line on the game; google turned up nothing but a line where we are -7.5.  But, looks like that webpage was from several years ago.

So I can truthfully say, I don't know who's favored.  But watching these two teams, I'm going to guess we are favored like -1.5 or its close to pick'em.  OSU has no passing game, and we have that secondary.  They're going to have to run; IU proved you can do that against us, but it's not a guarantee.  I think Rudock can carve them up, IF he gets time to throw.  We aren't going to run.  It's a mess, frankly.  But no way should tOSU be a heavy favorite, if at all?

I am going to guess it will start out at Ohio State -1 or some weird shit like that.

I am not saying thats what it should be, just a guess on the initial release.

If Zeke gets his way with the coaching decisions then we may have some IU flashbacks... gulp.

Our oline can't fuck around like they did against PSU or Bosa n co are gonna have a field day.

toss up imo.

I know it won't happen by Elliot shouldn't play next week.  You can't air your grievances like that in public, keep that shit inhouse.  The way all of OSU's players leaving for the NFL behaved after the MSU game was pretty disgusting.

I mean, if his leg is f-ed up (that looked disgusting) or if he and Meyer decide his head or heart isn't in it...the by all means.

I could see sitting him for a half.

But if you're a coach, why not have him hit the stadium steps and sit down and have the balls to talk this out man to man and figure out where we stand?

Suspending him a game doesn't seem like it's an effective solution - especially since Barrett just got a game for a DWI.

If it's me, we go handle this shit like men and I'm going to make you uncomfortable as FUCK in the process. You're big enough to air our laundry to the media. Come be big enough to have a grown my conversation in my office, on my time and accept some grown man consequence for your actions.

Simply getting suspended isn't teaching you anything and is too convienient for any Michigan fan to suggest.

That's my point.

I don't suspend him...I test his manhood and loyalty to the program. Demote him and test him mentally to see if he's committed to earn his spot back.

Test him physically and see if he's going to quit on his team.

I'm testing him over and over...but only after have our man to man coversation, the way issues SHOULD be handled.

I don't think he's strongwilled enough to handle it - and that is fine. If he isn't suspend him indefinitely and let him go train for the NFL.

But to just attach an arbitrary 1 game on it like it's a speed ticket...that's not solving the problem.

I want to know how committed are you...where is your head? How loyal are you to your teammates and this program? Do you understand how to handle issues like this in the future? Are you willing to suffer to prove you want to be here?

I'm not sure I'm going to get the outcome of Elliott on the field. The choice is all on him, no one is making him play...quit if you want. But if I'm the coach, you're going to be tested like you've never been tested before and the team is going to see it. Cardale, you too...you need to prove to me you want to be here. Otherwise, just leave now.

For me, punishment is one thing...I'm not punishing you, but I'm going to test you in every way I know how. I punish for breaking the law/ and things like that. This is different.

Elliott still wants to play. Meyer's got the rest of the team to worry about, not just Elliott. What would doing nothing do for team morale and discipline? That's what he needs to consider. Honestly, he'd be in a weaker position if he was worried about Elliott leaving in response.

"Meyer can't do anything" comment.  So Elliott said he's going pro?  Look at recent NFL drafts to see where top running backs have been going.  Unless they are special special, or a team reaches, most are seen as interchangeable.

Then, add to that the comments from yesterday (which I understand, but I don't think he phrased it or did it the right way).  And, on top of that, your assumption seems to be that he could just turn down Meyer's punishment?  I think there is a lot Meyer can do.

Sorry, but i don't think OSU is going to play like they did tonight when they roll into Ann Arbor. We're just not that lucky. And msu controlled the game running the ball. Something we're not equipped to do. I think it'll be close, but I still don't feel like we're the favorite. People tend to overreact to single games, and OSU is still by and large the same team they were yesterday. The only exception is if they mentally check out after the loss.

Eh, maybe, maybe not. Many have been suspicious that OSU has taken a step back all year. The only thing really keeping them around was their recod despite it being against crappiest competition. The thought has been that they are waiting to "turn it on" until they play MSU and UM. I think this confirms that OSU really is not as good as last year. Not even close.

You just know OSU is going to open it up against Michigan.  That's how this year has gone.  I would guess OSU -5.

Michigan is going to have to win this game on intangibles.

so you know we're getting a crap ton of #15. And I just don't know that I believe we can stop it with Glasgow out.

As much as I am enjoying their meltdown, they still have enough talent to give the D that got carved against Minn and IU fits.

People are saying they have no passing O, but on a clear day with the speed they have at the skill positions, particularly if we start getting hammered by #15, they still have that big play capability.

Our kids are going to have to find a very different level to stand up to that - a game nearly free of mistakes - and a fight that shows yet another level of aggression.

I'd favor them, but I hope Harbaugh and Durkin can show us even more than we've seen so far.

Favor OSU just because. Reading the aftermath of yesterday's game I have no idea what to expect from them. Their season is over, they don't care about their bowl game if it's not the Playoff and their best player may have checked out. I know they hate us but I've never seen that sort of self destruction after a loss by a team.

Ohio St would be in the B10 Championship Game with an outside shot of still making the Playoff. I think their loss yesterday probably felt like their season was over at the time. However, with time to look at the scenarios, I think they will move past Saturday and give all of their focus to Michigan. Unfortunately, I think we may actually get a tougher Ohio St that will play much more loosely, like they have nothing to lose. Had they won yesterday, maybe they play tighter or come more vanilla with their game plan because they just assume that will be enough to win. The feel of this game is now kind of an unknown to me. I expected an undefeated Ohio St with both teams knowing what is at stake. Now, neither team knows what a win will result in. Michigan needs to look at this game no differently than if Ohio St was undefeated. I think a win would put UM in the Rose Bowl possibly. Ohio St. will still be favored and should be on paper. I still can't believe those fuckers lost yesterday.

Don't care about the line for The Game. What matters is Ohio will get their shit together and have a game plan that actually makes sense when they play Michigan. Their performance shifts all the pressure on to Michigan. Masterful strategy by Urbz.

start somewhere around OSU-3 and  then sway towards a pick or Michigan.  Most public bettors rely heavily on the last thing they saw.

As a fan, and perhaps a pessimistic one at times, I just can't help but thinking that Elliott will bust through the line on some short yardage situation for a 50+ touchdown.  I also expect Meyer to pull out all the stops offensively, maybe seeing Jones and Barrett on the field together, and I think Braxton Miller will throw a pass at some point as well.

OddsShark does have the line summary yet, but their matchup summary to go with it is already up, at least most of it - the summary stats for each team are available anyway - LINK

The predicted score on their site favors OSU by only one point. I would imagine the line opens a little broader than that (as others have said, OSU -3 or thereabouts), but on a lot of algorithms, this game seems to be turning out to be a tossup. I would take that.

Yeah the idea that their season is over is just ignoring the facts. If msu loses and they win next week, they go to indy. If they beat iowa, I think they could still go to the playoff, though they might still need some help. They essentially have the same chances of making the playoff as we do. It just feels like it's over to them bc they no longer control their own destiny.

We all know for this game the records mean nothing. Emotion plays a key element. I think it is even at this point. Since JH is coaching and the game is at AA, the line will come out UM -3. After the meltdown of the MSU game, we will see if Urban earns his money in getting the Bucks ready.

This game has been available to bet all year as a "game of the year". Don't get too excited that's just how they bill it but there are at least a dozen "game of the year" listings for every week.

This line has bounced around and has been as high as OSU -14 (early in the year) and OSU -1 (early October before Michigan lost to MSU).

Last week it was OSU -6.5. I expect it will be OSU -4.5 when it opens around 4pm today.

Last five times Michigan was favored over OSU

2011 Michigan -8.5 (SU WIN and ATS Win)

2004 Michigan -4 (SU/ATS LOSS)

2003 Michigan -7 (SU/ATS WIN)

2001 Michigan -8 (SU/ATS LOSS)

1999 Michigan -11.5 (SU WIN / ATS LOSS)
