Of lighter-than-air-craft, a lack of souvenir cups and fan noise

So yeah, don't want to clue in Bill Martin that an ABC aircraft was wafting gently overhead, but yeah, good shots...I miss me some dirigibles and overhead shots going to/from commercial breaks, not to mention Jim's Blimpy Burger trailers reminding me that they are "ALMOST AS GOOD AS FOOD." Everyone, including the Super Bowl, has moved on from "terrorists winning thru Piper Cub kamikazes," so when will the Michigan Athletic Dept?

And while there are those aficionados of Coke, I am/was an aficionado of the souvenir cup. I liked the blue helmet jumbo cup with the stripes and wings, extremely modest Pepsi and Pontiac logos. The small cup was also a nice grab. Excellent to take to the neighborhood parties, rubbed in the local Sparty alum faces. As well as nice for my tailgate. Anyone else miss 'em, aside from the students who walk out with a stack of 20 after the game?

Finally, wanted to present my $0.02 about the vibe inside and outside the stadium during and after the game. The piped-in RAWK did it's job, got people in the south end hopping. The fans, giddy after the win, cheering under the concourse after the game...quite a sea change from our UGLi or HHGL opera viewing crowd noise. My brother, not a grad, but an attendee of games since I was a student, and now latching onto my extras when he can (for over 25 years!), noted that all the changes were to the positive, IHE. FWIW.

Carry on!

I don't get to go to many games but one of the things I did look forward to was the plastic cups that I have accumulated over the years just so I could upset the wifey and put them out with the good dinnerware at holidays. The new mugs just don't have that "it" factor I'm looking for!

I would think that some sort of Michigan stadium cup, rather than just a coke themed cup, will be coming back shortly. My guess would be coke wanted to do their own themed cups for a little while (maybe a full season), to make people aware of the brand change.

Doesn't matter. I can't fit anymore Michigan game cups in my cupboard.

I saw that the officer on the corner near gate 4 had changed. I have not been to a game in a while but made it to the ND game. I noticed I did not hear the usual sarcasm of "Officer Brian" which my wife and I always found amusing. It has been almost 2 yrs since I have been back to the Big House so you will have to excuse me but I was wondering what happened to him?

the stadium cups in recent years have become flimsier and flimsier. I still have cups proudly displaying the 1993 schedule that have survived scores of trips through the dishwasher and abuse at the hands of a toddler, but each year they get thinner and less durable.

is my bright red Ohio State cup from the 1986 Michigan-OSU game at Columbus. That thing is made of Kevlar.

This was the Harbaugh Guarantee game. We beat OSU on a missed field goal by them. I got so excited, I ran out onto the field with the ball still in the air. I quickly scurried back, just in case it was possible for Michigan to get a penalty if a fan in a Michigan sweatshirt ran onto the field of play.

Every time I drink from that cup, I am an ancient warrior drinking the blood of the vanquished. Until my wife takes it away and replaces it with one of my Daughter's many Dora the Explorer cups.
