Lewis Named Jim Thorpe Award Semifinalist

Submitted by StateStreetBlue on

Jourdan Lewis has been named as a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe award presented to the nation's best defensive back. Let's hope he continues to impress at such a high level.

Previous winners include Patrick Peterson, Eric Berry, and of course Charles Woodson.

too small for the pros. the ncaa should give him an exemption and extend his eligibility for another ~6 years just based on how small and definitely not ready for the pros Jourdan is.

Is there a reason we are not making Lewis and Clark jokes? Did I miss that?

He'll get tested big time against Thomas vs. OSU and potentially whoever we play in a bowl game, but right now, it's hard to say he's not one of the best corners, if not the best corner in the country.

Lewis' battle with Burbridge was epic, and was one of the best individual battles in a game in Michigan football history.   Sparty obviously went after Lewis and they did it for a reason "We will attack your strength with ours".  Lewis took on the battle and won about 50% of them, despite that Cook was amazingly accurate and placed the ball in great position for his WR on nearly every throw.  I dont believe that the height differences between himself and the WRs is all that much of a disadvantage for Lewis, if at all.   He uses great technique, quickness, positioning and hands to get right on the WRs hip.

It was an epic battle and a tape that a lot of NFL people probably looked hard at.
